I know "things"..... .I went to Baton Rouge with my cousin who is a highly regarded high school coach in LA who happens to be friends with Nick. I personally know of friction and heated closed door shouting matches between Nick and the AD Iover "control issues". Its no secret Nick is a control freak, and he felt some things were being done to undermine his hold on his team, especially after the 45-16 drubbing by Georgia in 2004. Nick likes to do things a certain way, and the AD didnt like the way Nick did things and his brash, arrogant, abrasive demeanor
made him unpopular with the higher ups. Many thought his coaching style was "brutal, impersonal, and very fiery but very cold on a personal level" toward some players who didnt buy into his "process". I personally saw firsthand when, during offseason workouts-the not-so-mandatory-but-if-you-want-to-play -mandatory type workouts, we were in his office talking shop when there were 2 rather large linemen walking by, cutting up, with their headphones on, laughing out loud, horseplaying, talking rather harsh and loud...Nick heard them, told the coach to hold his thought, he literally kicked his chair from out from under the desk, ran around the desk and out the door, and I saw him run up behind both of them, jump up( Nick is short, these linemen were 6'5) and grab , or YANK, rather, both sets of headphones off of these linemen, who then were caught off guard and obviously were kind being strangled by the hanging cord and at the same time when they saw who was holding their now broken headphones, fear sank in, and in no uncertain words, Nick pulled the guys down to his level and asked them 1. If they had worked out? Answer was NO.
2. Then why are you to lazy SOB's walking down my hallway interrupting a meeting that may or may not hold your future in its balance?
He then proceeded to get the Strength Coach involved on why these guys were even remotely still living when there were supposed to be giving 100%, and that if he valued his job , this wouldnt happen again. Trust me, it was alot more colorful than that.
To me, his intensity was too much for many because he never ever let up, even after winning the BCS.
I thought the whole incident with the headphones was "all for show", like we were getting "Punkd" or something, but my cousin the coach told me-"Nope that is Nick 100% of the time, 24/7, he is tightly wound, in one direction and that is forward, full speed ahead, stay out of his way." Needless to say, I learned more about Nick Saban in that 1 hr meeting and that 5 min little incident, that when I heard he had taken the job weeks before the story broke, I knew Alabama had made the right choice. So, yeh BeerBaron, I know what the fuck I am talking about. His NFL ambitions didnt grow legs until he realized he was dealing with guys at LSU that wouldnt compromise, and he would never be their "yes man". This, is why, in his contract with Alabama he made sure he had "total control with no admin interference".PERIOD.No Boosters, No AD's, No Board of Trustee bullshit, telling him what he should, can and shouldnt do.
He had learned a lesson at LSU, and did not want to have to go thru the BS again, and that lesson learned at LSU is helping Alabama by leaps and bounds, and we wouldnt have it any other way.

I admit it, I was the one that called you a fag last year. I'm not responsible for my actions after 3 days of drinking beforehand tailgating on Nicholson Drive.

I dont see LSU doing too well in the game tomorrow though.

I hate to do this, and really don't want to argue with an idiot, but.... Mr. Pelican Pants, what demands of Saban's did LSU not meet. What "internal issues" drove Saban to Miami. Demands had nothing to do with it, Saban had NFL ambitions and had to test the waters. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous.
As for the game LSU has multiple issues on both sides of the ball, but Bama has been less than impressive in several games this year. A blowout either way would suprise me.

To that guys flipping off the camera, get that finger ready cause because all that hate LS-who has for Saban only makes him stronger, he feeds off of it like his love of dishing out pain on opposing inferior opponents. THIS game Saban will be the aggressor since in reality, he really didnt want to leave LSU, LSU's dumb ass administration wouldnt make the effort, plus they wouldnt even meet him halfway on many simple internal issues. So, yes, as a Bama fan, we are glad to have him and his type of football is what we paid for. You guys had a bargain and let him get away-your fault, not his. Hate if you want, you are gonna hate it more Saturday night after he puts you away for the 2nd blowout at home and the 3rd SEC loss....Newsflash--LSU likes to turn the ball over and not stop the run or pass.....thats winning football for a "damn strong football team"...Miles should have took the job at Michigan, and this game will make him second guess it.
