But I saw us run about 10 different plays. Not too bad for week 2 of a midseason change in offensive philosophy. Of course, considering we only have 10, no second half adjustments can be made… Blech.

Maybe we’ll have 20 by the Bama game. We can run 10 in the first half and 10 in the second half.

The obvious ones who leap to mind are:
Nebraska (Osborne -> Frank Solich)
Miami (Butch Davis -> Larry Coker)

Some more marginal ones:
Michigan State (Saban -> Bobby Williams)
Washington (Don James -> Jim Lambright (probation didn’t help any))
Oklahoma (Switzer -> Gary Gibbs (not that Gibbs was bad, just not good enough to beat Texas and Nebraska, plus, you know, mad probation))
Washington State (Mike Price -> Bill Doba)

One waiting in the wings to happen is at Virginia Tech, where Bud Foster’s waiting less and less patiently for his shot. Ray Goff doesn’t count, because he was a young hotshot assistant, not a Politburo hire.

There are a few who bucked the trend: Neither Moeller nor Lloyd Carr really shat the bed as football coaches at Michigan following Schembechler, and Osborne succeeded Bob Devaney from within his staff. Oh, and Fulmer. He did win as many national titles as Spurrier, after all.

Congrats on WfVU’s win, they deserved it. My WarTigerPlainsmen got outcoached and outplayed. Don’t know what will be burnin’ hotter, the couches in Morgantown or the ulcer in my gut.
