WarCardinals says:
Two most awkward moments in ESPN’s College Football Live history:
#1
Reporter: “What would it take for you to sleep in a tent on the concrete for four days?”
Joe Paterno: “Depends on what she looks like.”
#2
Lou Holtz: “Well, Hitler was a great leader, too.”

some people at work were going to the Boise St game and invited me and I thought about it but ultimately decided the blue field is too much for me and it might make me throw up.

Brian says:
Joe Paterno just earned demigod status for me with that quote. Bad ass quote, not a codger at all. A man who scorns instant grits…clearly. He probably eats steak and eggs for breakfast every single day.

Oh, thank goodness I get UNC @ Virginia instead of tOSU @ Sparty or Mangino @ Land Thieves. Stupid sexy Al Groh…
Fortunately the dulcet tones of Uncle Verne will be there to soothe me just around the dial.

hoopinion says:
3:30-7pm EDT @ The Brewhouse: I’ll be testing the strength of my belief in Todd Reesing and the Fat Man (It could be like 1984 all over again except in Norman instead of Lawrence and without Troy Aikman trying to run the option and no coke and whiskey’d Sons of Switzer shouting confusing and profane insults at my seven-year-old self and my sainted grandmother, couldn’t it? Right?), while also distracting myself from the sure-to-be very real difference in athleticism between KU defensive backs and OU receivers by taking regular and mercifully brief glances at the Little 5 Points Halloween Parade.

Morning:
Tech-Aggy (This week, FSN stands for Farmers Squeeze Nuts). Looking forward to more Aggy humiliation.
Afternoon:
Kansas-OU (this might be horrifying, like Nic Cage watching 8 MM)
Giggity-Bama
Michigan-Penn St.
Evening:
Mizzou-Texas
LSU-S. Carolina
UT Juarez-Tulsa
Fourthmeal:
Cal-Arizona*
* At least until I get really drowsy. Used to be I didn’t sleep until the Late Night Pac-10 Game was over. Nowadays sleep is a bigger priority…blame the almost 1 year old in my house.

Graysnail says:
@ 7: We both get the bonus game, huh? Yup, no Kansas / Oklahoma for me. It’s cool, I don’t want to see Sam Bradford throw 95-yard TD passes or anything like that.
Instead, on the slate:
- Wake Forest / Maryland (because I enjoy torture, so it seems)
- Georgia Tech / Clemson
- Nebraska / Iowa State (because I can only handle half an hour of ACC “action” before I become desperate for anything else)
- Vandy / Georgia (ARP ARP ARP QUALITY WIN ARP ARP ARP)
- Ole Miss / Alabama
- North Carolina / Virginia
- Michigan State / Ohio State (and its subsidiary, Michigan / Penn State)
- Missouri / Texas
- LSU / South Carolina
- Virgina Tech / Boston College
Thankfully, I won’t be subjected to Tennessee football this week … but yes, that’s 4 out of 5 ACC games that we get to “enjoy” here. God, I hate that conference.

JD says:
Afternoon:
Syracuse vs. USF
Red Raider vs. Aggie (always a hilarious game to watch)
UConn vs. Rutgers (my version of the Two Minutes Hate)
Giggity vs. Alabama
Fighting Manginos vs. Oklahoma
Miami vs. Duke (God I hope Duke pulls this off)
Evening:
Rays vs. Red Sox (please eight-pound six-ounce baby Jesus, let the Rays get out of this alive)

SpartanDan says:
The early session: Wisconsin-Iowa and/or Purdue-NW, as the action warrants (if both turn into snoozefests, Tech/A&M is sure to be crazy)
Late afternoon: MSU-OSU, with occasional flips to Michigan-PSU for my weekly allotment of schadenfreude
Nightcap: Sitting in the stands for [REDACTED]-Indiana

I've Got a Herd on says:
It’s been a chore around here (Huntington, WV) to watch games I want to see lately.
Last week, ABC viewers got the pleasure of watching Rutgers and Cincinnati both try to lose to each other instead of the Red River Rivalry.
Later, I noticed Nebraska was taking the Pirateship down to the wire and that it was on almost all Fox Sports stations. Getting two FS stations on cable, i figured at least one of them would be showing it. Well, FS Ohio is showing Ohio U/Kent (and then switches to a reality show about skanky wannabe Bengals cheerleaders called “Making the Ben-Gals” while the TT-Neb game is still on.) FS Pittsburgh was no better as they decided to show…wait for it…Allegheny versus Carnegie-Mellon.
You can’t make this shit up.
Anyway, my day will be focused on watching my Thundering Herd (@ UAB, 3:30, and yes, I almost decided to drive 8 hours to Birmingham) attempt to remain the only undefeated-in-conference team in the country that plays in an East division (yeah I’m reaching, but it’s true, look it up.) Sadly, this is not a simple task since it’s on absolutely no TV. It requires going to a bar that bought the internet feed (with no sound) and is hooking it up to the monitors.
Noon games look terrible so I’ll probably wake up at 2, try to catch a buzz by halftime of the afternoon games (rooting against OSU and OU) while at said bar, and feebly attempt to remain coherent enough to make it through Mizzou’s victory in Austin.

Signal to Noise says:
Couch and computer-bound once again.
Early shift: GT-Clemson and Tech-aTm. GT will be primary, as I like watching the triple option as much as possible, plus Clemson’s soap opera week should make it interesting.
Nooners: OSU-MSU and Ole Miss-Bama, mostly. May look in at how badly Penn State is whooping Michigan and whether USC-Wazzu is out of control by the first quarter.
Night games: Will spy on Mizzou-Texas in between half-innings. Made obligation to live-blog some playoff baseball.

Year2-Dave says:
You feel it too, kleph? After having lived in Florida my whole life until January, the lack of excitement over football season here in Charlotte is remarkable. The only people who seem to care a lot are the fans of NC State, South Carolina, and Clemson.
I would have thought the legions of North Carolina fans would be excited about their hot start, but they seem more excited about basketball starting soon. What can you do?

Clemson’s official colors are burnt orange and northwestern purple, guy. Just sayin.
