Tom Reed??? I lived in Lee-noir (or Len-wah, depends on how you say it) back then and I have zero recollection of him.

Even was at the 1981 Clempson NCSU game with a Clempson grad. Cold, windy football day, 17-7. Might have the program.

According to my good friend, http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com, Kiffin coached State from ‘81-’83.

Tom Reed followed him. Reed got his tail kicked by Furman two years in a row, just like South Carolina did in ‘80, so State hired Dick Sheridan away from Furman.

State has a nasty habit of hiring away SoCon coaches who beat them in previous years. Les Robinson followed Valvano because ETSU was kicking State’s tail on the basketball court.

And, because Valvano was a dirty, dirty, dirty, cheater that made Danny Ford look like the Pope.

It is not a rumor that State turned Clemson in. It was over Terry Kinard, among others, but a lot of the dirt came specifically over Kinard.

I dont believe the story about Stoops/Mangino…I cant quite picture Mangino being competitive in Raquetball, maybe Squash, and by that I mean Mangino squashing Stoops against the wall as a defensive tactic….it would take several minutes to recover and get your breath back…its quite obvious he has never played raquetball, maybe Yard Darts or Bowling…..maybe we can get them to do an exhibition, I’d pay to see that….
