We don’t care. An asswhipping that regal and complete is its own reward. This may be the best single demolition we’ve watched there since Tennessee ‘95. It was that satisfying.

It had everything any Gator fan needs. For all the normal Gator fans who love blowouts, there was obviously that. But there was even some nail-biting (or in my case, object-throwing) to do for those masochistic Gators.

At what point do the good one loss teams (Florida, OU, and Georgia — maybe Missouri, LSU, and USC) start to be ranked ahead of decent (PSU, Tx Tech, Okie St) and dubious (Tx Tech, BYU) no loss teams?

@5 – probably some residual hate from Lesticles’ nice little commentary about USC’s Pac-10 schedule two years ago (although this year, he’d be right.)

Yeah, God might be raining down fire and brimstone on the greater Madison and Gainesville areas after tonight. That was brutal. Modern Sodom and Gomorrah ain’t where they’re allowing them howmowseckshuls to marry, it’s where Tigers and Badgers alike totally forget to bring the lube.

Well, Georgia and Florida and were ranked above Oklahoma State to begin with. The Cowboys might be able to leapfrog Georgia but I doubt they can do it with Florida.

If Texas Tech isn’t leapfrogged, they’ll be #4, which is an absurdity to itself.

TTech won’t last long. Their real schedule awaits… As for the asswhippings…. yowza…. I watched two teams get completely dismantled and the blank look on Bielema’s face took second to the ‘Another fucking delay of game? Wait… Ohmygawd did they just score again?’ look on Miles’s face.

Penn State vs. Texas in the BCS Championship game, book it.

Everyone in the SEC and all but Texas in the Big 12 will have at least two losses, while JoePa shocks everyone.

Nice win for the Gators, who will lose to either Vandy or Georgia. They have great potential to either blow people out or come a cropper at the worst moment.

    8 & 9 –

I agree that Tx Tech at 5 looks too high, but they will have the chance to justify and improve the ranking given that 4 of the Top 10 teams are in the Big 12 South.

How is USC at 4 ?!? They have no quality wins and lost to a very average team. . . . OU and Georgia (and maybe Florida and LSU) can each claim to have resumes as good as the Trojans.

Given the fraticide in the Big 12 and SEC, it is regretably likely that it will be USC vs. the winner of PSU-tOSU (arguing Pryor and Wells makes them a different team) — especially if the Big 12 and SEC champs have 2 losses. . . . Arrrrgghhh.

    Crabapple Buck says:

    Allaha – you state

How is USC at 4 ?!? They have no quality wins and lost to a very average team. . . . OU and Georgia (and maybe Florida and LSU) can each claim to have resumes as good as the Trojans.

Here is your guideline – USC will get the “Herbstreit boost” with his annual proclaimation that they are playing the best RIGHT NOW. They did pave tOSU without Beanie Wells and Terrelle Pryor splitting PT. tOSU is better than you will ever give credit for until you play them – then suddenly they are the ‘85 Bears. SC at least had the good sense to lose on the road and polished their turd by scoring late to make the score closer than it really was.

Georgia will have no claim over many teams, even tOSU, which will never get there either, by getting smoked at home. Blowouts have consequences.

Florida lost AT HOME to Ole Piss, the definition of an average team. That is inexcusable.

LSU got poleaxed. Though it was at least on the road and missing their best player.

OU has the best case by losing to Texas on a neutral field and lost their best defender before the half that went south. They did not get blown out.

Mizzou was handled at home by a team that they should be clearly better than. Again, losing at home has consequences.

So to answer your question, when do teams get ranked ahead of the unbeaten? When the PSU’s and TTU’s lose. Why punish them for the ineptitude of others.

My Buckeyes may lose, but they don’t lose to unranked opponents. Home or away, they beat the teams they are supposed to beat. Not always pretty, as Saturday proved vs. Purdue. Our losses since 2005 are to Texas #1(eventual BCS Champ), @PSU(#3), Florida BCSNC, Illinois #13 at home and LSU BSCNC in NOLA , and @USC #1. If we lost to Minnesota, the Big Ten equivalent of Ole Miss, at home, we would never hear the end of it. If Alabama and Texas can finish unbeaten there is your title game. But it is early October and there is alot of football to be played. Last year at this time South Carolina was ranked #6 and we all know how that turned out.

    EireHog says:

There is only one answer to the “How is USC #4/#6″ question.

Loss on September 25th > Loss October 4th or 11th.

And it’s not by a small margin, either. When you lose is far, far too important for the human voters.

When you see the BCS numbers, and the SOS comes into play, USC will be punished for it’s soft schedule– but no sooner.

I would like to dedicate a song to the LSU Tigers…
“The Pretender” by Foo Fighters “what if I say Im not like the others”…which means to me that now, they are seen for what they really are….they have no Saban players and have no discipline…#24 was jawing all night at Tebow after he would tackle him 15 yrds down the field…That “signature” win over Auburn looks really weak now that we know who Auburn really is. I liked the way Florida played, with no fear and hell, they ran UP THE MIDDLE ALL NIGHT WITH MIDGET RUNNING BACKS….The Oompa Loompa Attack is alive and well in the SEC and PAC 10… If Alabama can take care of business and avoid the injury bug(which Florida had vs Ole Miss) I see Florida vs Alabama in the SEC Championship, that winner will take on either a undefeated Texas team or an undefeated Penn State, and I still like the SEC’s chances in that game. Alabama is a physical power running game/Stop the run, man on man coverage Defense, Florida is quick hits to playmakers/Speed Kills Finesse type offense(looks like no one ever gets a hand on them) and stop the run defense/make em pass to the Linebacker, whose punting technique, while exciting, needs work….

A note to the rest of the SEC. If any of you had been in our shoes, you’d have been ripped apart too.

Also, for all of you who are talking trash about LSU, watch your backs. Our team is going to come home with their tails between their legs, but you bet your ass they’re angry, very very angry. If you have LSU coming up on your schedule I would be very worried.
