OPEN THREAD, PART TWO: BREATH, TAKEN AWAY
Hi. You know who I am. This thumb’s for you, Colt McCoy, because you’re a champion who takes my breath away and turns in slow motion away from onrushing defenders bent on crushing you. You took the highway to the danger zone but took the exit toward Victory Lane, and for that I’m buzzing your tower and oiling myself up for a one-on-one volleyball game. You’re invited.
No more playing with the boys, Colt: just you and me, a Colt and a Maverick out in the field doing what animals do. I’m bringing this thumb. Let’s role play: this time, you be Sam Bradford, and I’ll be Brian Orakpo and Sergio Kindle.
This is your open thread for the afternoon. We don’t judge you, whatever you’d like to do with or to Colt McCoy and the rest of the magnificent Texas Longhorns, who played the finest game of the year thus far against the Oklahoma Sooners. Boom. Motherfucker.

The first satisfying win of the Petrino era today. If the Hogs had a special teams coach, they might be talking up Independence Bowl tickets.

Why is the Auburn Tigers Offense like a possum?
Because they play dead at home and get killed on the road….Wooo…..What are the odds Petrino doesnt leave Auburn and is announced as the new head coach? Karma bitches…..it coming back around Auburn fans…….in truckloads……lets see, Tubbs has lost with Franklin and without Franklin, Miss St croomed Vandy, and Auburn still has to play Georgia, WFV, Ole Miss and Alabama? Wow….I could have never ever wished this in my wildest dream…..classless bastards deserve it all…..especially Tubbs

No, more like the power of very high quarterback expectations that have been freaking everyone out. It’s just never really a problem position for Tennessee–they’re not always stars, but they’re NEVER like Crompton. I can’t remember the last time we had that grade of incompetence under center, but it’s over now and we found our guy.

I must’ve misunderstood. UT lost by 12, feeling “GREAT about the game,” in general, if you lost by 12 meant you had low expectations. Feeling great about the QB play is an entirely different thing.

For UT, this season was looking like a total loss, with Berry being the lone bright spot for the future. With what appears to be a competent QB under center, next season appears to have some promise.
Compare UT with, say, FSU. If you’re an FSU fan, your team has shown you no reason to think you’ll be any better in the near future.
