EDSBSGPS: WHERE WE AT, WEEK 7

The weekend's agenda:

ORSON (Gainesville):
Texas vs. Oklahoma, Notre Dame @ UNC, Nebraska @ Texas Tech via bar TV
LSU @ Florida from the UF student section, which will not end badly, at all
OK State @ Mizzou via replay

HOLLY (Anaheim):
Texas vs. Oklahoma
Tennessee @ Georgia
LSU @ Florida
OK State @ Missouri
UCLA @ Oregon

Silent lion assassin: Could be anywhere, really, but we'll lay odds on "right behind whichever shoulder you don't check first."

Who's heading where? Who's hard up enough for action to watch Memphis-Loovll tonight? Everybody got their fighting shoes on? Do tell. Happy weekend, y'all.

Team has a “TV bye week” aka playing 1-AA school, so just watching the Red River Shootout, the UNC/ND shit-show, and whatever else strikes this fella’s fancy.

To anyone going to the Red River Shootout: please get some chicken fried bacon at the State Fair of Texas.

That’s how Big Tex would want it.

Apparently I’ll be watching 8-year-old bobblehead-type football in suburban Seattle (ex-girlfriend’s nephew). I came 2000 miles for that. No, I don’t know why. Probably because I’m a pussy. Those kids running around and bumping into each and falling down better be entertaining, ‘cause I won’t be drinking (ex’s family are Mormons).

Red River thing at home in sweet sweet air conditioning. Outdoors drinking alcohol after that. And LSU – UF from the student section. You cannot have a fuller day, and that includes only two actual football games.

In Athens, grilling fajitas during the Texas – OU(sucks) game, then ’tween the hedges, then LSU @ UF at the after-game tailgate.

Word.

i’ll be at the Auburn/Arkansas game praying for some kind of victory for my Tigers after one of the worst/weirdest/dumbest weeks in recent history.

Driving to Chicago for the NW-MSU game. Likely to catch OU-Texas and Illinois-Minnesota until game time, then PSU-Wisconsin after.

Golf in beautiful pastural North Fulton county in early am. Home to catch Red River shoootout, then tOSU-Purdue at 3:30 along with channel surfing other games during commercials to see them all. Followed by PSU-Wisconsin to scout for next week.

I watched the FAU-Troy on Tuesday, the Clemson-WF (Go Deacs!) on Thursday, and I’m watching now the Louisville-Memphis…That was a greeting of a big college fan from little Hungary :)

330 games: OSU-Purdue with audio, ND-UNC, and Northwestern-MSU without

Night games: MSU-Wisconsin, OkSU-Mizzou, and LSU-UF…sound will rotate based on what’s happening.

Being in Pittsburgh, here are my options at noon:

Local ABC affiliate: Rutgers at Cincinnati
ESPN: Minnesota at Illinois
Deuce: Colorado at Kansas (12:30)
FSN: Duquesne at Robert Morris
Versus: Cornell at Harvard

That’s right… no Red River Shootout. What. The. Fuck.

The main events for me are without question:

Red River Gunplay (Texas @ OU) – Hoping to see how the City of Dallas spent my tax dollars (or rather, how poorly).

LSU @ Florida – I SO wanted to be there in person. Between myself and Seven Years in Gainesville, Orson’s liver may have been in serious trouble.

The undercard is below.

Morning Session:

Minnesota @ [NAME REDACTED]
ECU @ UVA
Ball Coach @ KY

Afternoon Session:

Vandy @ Croominator
Nebraska @ TT
Vols @ UGA
Arizona State @ USC
Purdue @ tOSU
Notre Dame @ UNC
New Mexico State @ Nevada

Night Session:

Joe Pa @ Wisky
Wind Turbines @ Mizzou
Idaho @ Fresno State

SC – ASU is only on gameplan / 360 hereabouts, so I’ll catch up on that while keeping an eye on LSU – Florida. Too much going on in the middle of the day to do anything other than bemoan Scotland losing to Norway – it is written.

Oh, and for what it’s worth, I’ll be in Anaheim because the Tennessee Alumni Association has rented out the ESPN Zone bar for the Georgia game. So if you hear of a mass orange cyanide-laced Kool-Aid poisoning tomorrow evening, remember me fondly.

Come on now, I expect the poisoned beverage of choice to be whiskey.

Or at LEAST Cheer-wine.

If it comes to that, you will be sorely missed, Holly. You are the only other person that has a key to our house and the only other person I have met since returning to Ca who knows anything about NCAAFB

by TheMightyErik on Oct 11, 2008 12:24 AM EDT reply actions

The thought of Cheerwine alone might get me through it. When I cross the Tennesee state line in two weeks I’ll probably bathe in it. (That’s not gross, at all.)

We’ll do you a favor & whup Candybilt earlier in the day.

I’m with #14. Caught the second half of Memphis-Louisville last night. Not a bad game. Heck, it was college football (!), which I’d like to remind people consists of an all-too-short 13 week season, plus some mostly-bad bowl games. Soon enough it’ll be Fulmer Cup season again…

Today I got to work, so I’ll probably miss the noon games, and might even miss the mid-afternoon games. Bummer.

Couch and computer-bound.

AM shift: Red River Shootout with occasional peek-ins on CU-Kansas (Run, Ralphie, run!)
Nooners: Corn For Brains vs. Capt. Leach’s Pirate Academy will be primary; ASU-USC secondary. Will look in on ND-UNC for schadenfreude and impending possibility of Vawl-Dawg cripple fight.
Nighters: LSU-Florida primary, OK Sate-Mizzou secondary, and peeking in to see if Penn State will stay undefeated.

It’s a Weimaraner, all right? A spastic, limping Weimaraner. And she’s dog-sitting for two other dogs right now, too — a mutt with a cone on its head from recent ear surgery and the dumbest springer spaniel on the planet. We have re-named the spaniel “Kyle” to celebrate its stupidity.
