Heard saw the pick and spun around to block someone and there was McCoy wandering towards the sideline. Based on all the videos I've seen (and I've seen a lot of breakdowns of this play), Heard hit McCoy as Dodge was getting tackled. A couple other horns were blocked at about the same time, and significantly harder. In any case, Heard shoved McCoy (hard) rather than driving through for the big time hit it could have been, it was just unfortunate that it was McCoy's bad shoulder (reinjured earlier in the game when Chris Harrington forced a fumble). Heard played to the whistle, McCoy didn't. What I really gained respect for in the Kate Bush clip was KSU's D, I hope our admittedly crappy line does a better job of protection than that.
