The only good thing to come from watching that video was the “Don’t cry out loud, Buckeyes” vid from the 2006 BCS NC game linked at the bottom…and of course I watched it…again.

The current political climate makes me want to move to Canada. Or just ask Great Britain to take us back.

by blon on Sep 25, 2008 11:09 AM EDT reply actions

blon…and you would be relocating to enjoy which? the “civil rights” tribunals in Canada or the Sharia law in Great Britain?

I know…I know…no political talk, but…ORSON STARTED IT!

@1 and every brilliant person who posts just like him

I always imagine the typical SEC Internet poster’s thought process when visiting EDSBS to be something like this:

(SCENE: Interwebs poster seeing fresh new virgin article, cue internal monologue)

“ZOMG, Orson just posted something and it’s an article about Ohio State that no one has commented on… Oh Man, I hope I’m the first one to post a reply without even seeing anything other than the word “Ohio.”

Oh, fawking sweetness!!!!, no one has posted yet, what should I write. Should I be witty? No, there’s no time for that, that takes thought and cunning.

Wait – the article said something about politics….Should I try to make a bold political statement, even though I know it would put Orson’s pen name at risk? No, that would surely get me banned, and I would lose the ability to stalk Holly

I know, I’ll talk about how the SEC beat anOSU down two straight years in the MNC in a bold and brutalizing fashion using their brilliant coaching skills, superior defense and modern, flashy offense.

Man, oh man, there’s so much pressure. What to do? WHAT TO DOO?"

EEEEEESSSSSS EEEEEEEEEEEEE SSSSSSEEEEEEEE SSSSPPPEEEEEEEEEEDDDD!!!!

@ 5…of course the entire thought process happened much faster than it took for you to type that due to…well…you know….

Woody Hayes thinks Mary Jo makes a fine point.

@6 – ZING! I lol’d

I’d never seen that “Dont cry out loud” video. Holy crap, the pain that brought back. I cried in my corn flakes just watching.

Yes, I’m still bitter about that game.

  1. “civil rights” tribunals in Canada or the Sharia law in Great Britain

Better or worse than suspension of habeas corpus, expansion of federal powers and curtailment of civil rights under the current administration?

And we may have to bring the witch trials. Palin’s pastor seems to think he needs to excise a bunch.

I’m willing to take an extended vacation for a while.

blon—We’re booking you for political speak.

Blon,

I am not sure that Barack Obama fans really want to compare pastors.

Regardless of the national politics, this is why many Michigan fans will not venture to Columbus for games. The Ohioan mindset which thinks that this is a winning argument leads to way too much “interaction” between the locals and those deigning to wear maize and blue.

I wasn’t making a comparison. I’ll concede that both pastors are nuts.

Change your second paragraph to red and white and that sums it up for UT in regard to Arkansas. I understand your point.

I don’t know why “We’re afraid to travel to your stadium” is supposed to be an insult. I hear it all the time in reference to fans being afraid to travel to Philadelphia Eagles games and my response is always, “Good. That means it’s working. Now keep your doughy ass at home.” Isn’t that what “homefield advantage” means?

vegas_buckeye…sorry to rip that band aid off…but at least I did it with ESSSSSSS EEEEEEEE SEEEEEEEE SPEEEEEED!

Harris -

When it doesn’t involve physical assaults, I agree. I don’t particularly like, but can live with, the “Fuck Michigan woooooo!”s screamed directly in your face on the way to a game. The elbows dropped in the rib cage on that same walk, less so. And watching two females clad in Michigan gear get repeatedly shoved and elbowed while leaving the 2002 game? Not a highlight. So I guess your line and my line on how far one should go to create “homefield advantage” might differ.

In fairness, I must say that the 2006 OSU crowd was far more passive than in either 1998 or 2002. Perhaps they had gotten used to beating us by then and the latent frustration from the Cooper years had dissipated.

by maskedavenger on Sep 25, 2008 1:12 PM EDT reply actions

Masked

I hope that the measures taken after 2002 have taken hold permanently. I think the fact that Bo passed the day prior had muted the crowd, even though 500,000 were there, 400,000 without tickets. Since we have one loss and you guys are awful, I expect a return to decent, civil behavior this year.

vegas @ #5…on the contrary, I see a mention of Ohio and my first thought (at least this time) turns to how originally (and prior to our independence) Ohio was a disputed portion of territory sought by the subjects of Virginia and New York. That its current residents think only in terms of its standing in national collegiate football is a travesty and a testament to the historically bankrupt populace. tOSU…fie!

I just have to state for the record that it saddens me deeply that Mary Jo Kilroy was actually voted into public office at any level…

She is without a doubt, one of the dumbest, most ineffectual human beings I have ever had to work with. And that includes when I was managing a Camelot Music record store in my 20s.
