how in mongoloid hell is Miami the 4th best team of this century?
top teams are:
1. USC- undisputed #1, hands down;
2. LSU- undisputed #2, at their best could have beaten USC at their best, though;
3. Florida- Best team to not win 2+ NCs;
4. Oklahoma- Better than all the rest- annual threat to win it all;
(tied) #5. Auburn- only team to go undefeated and not win a NC, may have beat more top-10 teams than anyone else; and
(tied) #5. tOSU- You can’t really argue that they are the best when they get shallacked in 2 straight championships, but they’re damn good.

My thoughts.

1. All this USC vs. OSU talk doesn’t matter, the buckeyes are the ones with something to prove in a game they aren’t supposed to win. If they lose they were supposed to if they win the SEC will find fault.

2. Tressel needs to A. let the reins off Pryor and go for broke, B. Fire Heacock the guy can’t coach at all.

3. Woody Paige is an ass grabbing clown. He shouldn’t have a job at all and hasn’t made a valid point in years. The guy makes the rounds on ESPN shows pulling in $500 per so after cold pizza (or whatever it is now), and 4 guys yelling at each other for half an hour he subsidized his income by a grand. Must be nice.

Let’s not start blowing Tressell just yet and calling him a genius for possibly sandbagging USC. Yeah, that strategy has worked out so well over the past two years in the big bowl game. They looked slow and pathetic against Ohio U (the Idaho of the midwest). They have some real problems ahead of them, methinks.

Everyone can claim how awesome their conferences are but if USC goes completely medieval on OSU I think it may be time to give them deep pockets in the Coliseum their due credit. Consider this…

From the start of the 2003 season they have lost only 5 games by a grandmindnumbingfuckingtotal of 20 points (including the grand beatdown by 7 to Oregon at Autzen). That is quite scary considering they have brought on all takers during that timeframe including any Big 12, Big 10, or SEC teams that had the stones to put them on their schedule or had the misfortune to end up against them in a bowl.

**This, btw, comes from someone who cannot stand those leather miniskirt wearing, brush headed assholes with the most annoying band ever from Troy. Just having to give credit where credit is due.

10.5 point line? Largest point spread against Ohio State since the 2002 National Championship? USC is good, but they deserve that kind of line? Where’s my bookie?

I’m not saying Tressel has a gambling problem, but he’s got to have some money on this game. Name me the last regular season game that Ohio State lost by more than 7?

You would have to go back to 2004’s 8-4 Buckeye squad.

How did USC’s first opponent fair in week 2? 3-0 lead on 1-AA Richmond with 7:30 left in the game before blowing the game open and winning 16-0, with the final TD coming on a pick return for a TD (missed field goal).

I’ll bust out some Vintage Woody Paige for you: In 2005, weeks before undefeated Texas and undefeated USC were to play for the title, Woody Paige INSISTED that the two best teams in the country should be playing in the game, and that was the matchup everyone wanted to see. His two best teams? Ohio State, USC. “Wait a minute”… you might be thinking. Yep. That Ohio State team lost to that Texas team in Columbus, as you may recall. Ridiculous. It angers me greatly that this man is paid ten times as much to do a tenth of the job most bloggers do.

I think if one is to be fair about ranking the top programs of the century LSU, with two championships would be ahead of tOSU.

1. USC
2. LSU
3. tOSU
4. Miami
5 Oklahoma

Isn’t there some story a couple down about Georgia going out west to play someone in the top 15?

Tennessee seems fond of opening in California these days.

Auburn opened with USC a couple of times. They are facing off with WVa in a couple of weeks, and if RR was still there WVa would still be WVa.

LSU has no problem scheduling home and homes with VPI.

Arkansas is about start a 10 year series with A&M in Dallas.

You cannot blame Florida for what Larry Coker did, and Randy Shannon will continue to do as he will never have an offense, to Miami.

And, Ole Miss to Wake this past week.

Bottom line, just because you don’t like them does not mean you have to exaggerate the reality of their scheduling.

Myself, I will now hate Alabama and Nick Saban until the end of time, but they have the guts to schedule home and homes with the likes of Oklahoma and Penn State.

Burn in Hell, Saban.

Swindle’s comment on this clown in the 49 (?) reasons to hate ESPN was why I started reading. Something like the local drunk who slept under an overturned boat in the back yard and walked onto the set.

I’d bet dollars to donuts that he’s normal in person. That part of ESPN is big time wrestling.

HLH, there are two trains of thought on that LSU/UNT game, heading in the opposite direction:

1) LSU looked disinterested for a half against Tulane last year in a similar situation.

2) However, North Texas lost by 30 to Tulsa last week. At home. They’re baaaaad.
