There’s no defending the GA public school system Orson, I completely agree. It’s an embarrassment to the state. Fortunately, based on my time there, I would estimate about 97% of UGA’s students come from Gwinnett or Cobb county, where the schools are at least decent. I, on the other hand, come from a county perpetually in danger of losing its accreditation.

Fairly noted: that was a private Christian school, not a public school. The difference: there’s at least a slight chance the teacher would use protection at a public school.
