Giving up 300+ yd passing is exactly “shut down D”. Then again, when the goal is “Stop sucking, go from there.” 300 yds passing maybe isn’t so bad.

I dunno Brian O’Blivion,

Didn’t see the game but have heard and read good things about Cal, particularly in light of how favorably MSU has been viewed in the pre-season. I’d be a little gun shy and wait to see if they’ve regained their footing from last year. Still, at least on a resume basis, its hard seeing them behind Clemson or even South Carolina whose offense did nothing before the NCState D decided to leave early.

After the thumping that Clemson took, I don’t see why they are in the poll at all. Meanwhile, Cal beat what looked like a pretty decent Michigan State squad Saturday night in the best game that nobody saw because the Messaban was coaching. I watched that game, and Kevin Riley actually looked decent. Look for Cal to dispose of Wazzu next week, and then I expect you might rank them.

Apparently EWU is our 1-AA doppelganger. Their QB actually threw it five more times than Harrell, and we held them to 23 rushing yards. So I don’t know what you can take from this game, other than like a lot of folks, our special teams need work.

Next week we’re at Nevada…they rushed for 426 last week, albeit against [historically black skewl] Grambling.

and lost in all the haze was Nebraska’s solid performance against Western Michigan. For a whole new “talentless” defense they did alright against the TTU clone from Michigan.

All of a sudden with VA Tech’s comatose offense and Misery’s drive thru Defense things are looking pretty fucking good in the Husker Nation. I would expect to see them soon Orson…

Like in five weeks after they have a couple scrimmages: See SJSU, and New Mexico State… then VA Tech after a week to prep and then Misery… All in the midst of the Red Sea in Lincoln.

I am glad we don’t play USCTEBOWEASTCAROLINA and I wish we didn’t have to play JAWJALSU… but the rest of ya’ll come on down.
Truth is, we just need to beat Tennessee and Auburn in the same year. The rest of it doesn’t matter. If that happens, I’m grinning from ear to ear and ya’ll can see BOTH of my teeth.

West Virginia is going to win by 30. East Carolina is garbage. It just so happens that Va. Tech is even more garbage. Anyone who watched that game saw two very mediocre teams have a slap fight. If Pat White (haha, or Tyrod Taylor) was playing QB for Va. Tech, they would have been up 2 or 3 scores going into the 4th quarter.

Other than Rahhhhl Taaahhhhde is overrated until they beat a team not mentally retarded. I think this is a good poll. The Buckeyes struggled to seal the deal in the redzone. Kicking the rust off is what I hope that is. Other than that the Defense left them with only 73 yards in the game, which is pretty good no matter who the opponent. Good analysis Orson, USC did mudstomp the volunteers like it was their first day in prison and wanted to let everyone know that they would be no one’s bitch. I just wonder if the little scrawny white dude they just pulverized was someone’s bitch and now they have angered Big Mike.
