NIGHT GAMES LIVEBLOG: SEC GOT ME DIZ-ZAY

Footloose and fancy-free, motherfuckers. We're taking a little break to stretch and drink, and we'll kick off the last liveblog of the evening around 8:00 EDT. Until then, warm up in the comment thread.

Again, how this works: A handful of the consistently funny will have their comments auto-approved; everyone else goes in the queue. If your comment doesn't show up, please don't repost--we'll get to as many of the good ones as we can. If you're not saying something relevant, at least make it funny, and no politics. [Hint: Typing WAR EAGLE WAR EAGLE over and over again, while adorable, is not Cutting It.] Orson is in the press box for Alabama-Clemson and would like everyone to know he just spotted a pair of Crocs with leather deck shoe tops.

Defensive TD for Auburn on ULM’s first offensive play

Today has gone as well as could possibly expected for us WFV fans: Pitt loses (no suprise), VaTech loses (mild surprise), Michigan loses (as was hoped), and WFV wins big. I’ll get back to my Wannstadt/DickRod slash fiction now.

Postgame comment of the day (so far): "[Instead of punting] it would have been nice to get a touchdown but, you know, we follow the leader (Wannstedt),” LeSean McCoy said.

I love you guys. Given all my normal football watching pals are out of town, the liveblog chat made me feel like I wasn’t drinking by myself this afternoon

If Clemson doesn’t win this game, August 31st 2008 will go down as the worst day in ACC history.

A fitting begining for the Rod man….. He may not last the year..

John -

Except…that it’s Aug. 30

by WarCardinals on Aug 30, 2008 7:27 PM EDT reply actions

Those crocs are fucking breathtaking. They’re so grotesque, and yet, I can’t look away.

The Wanstache goes down. DickRod takes a big ol’ D in the B. Turkeyneck loses in ironical fashion as ECU brandishes “Beamer Ball”. What a wonderful beginning to this football season.

Note to the ACC: You are supposed to try to win these contests. Give it a shot.

Booyah. And so it’s begun.

Yeah….well….uhhh….August 31st will still be the worst day because the initial shock won’t set in until the next day. So there.

They are playing Sweet Home Alabama in the Dome. You’ll never believe it but ALABAMA FANS ARE FAMILIAR WITH THIS SONG AND ITS LYRICS.

Punt return touchdown for Auburn

AU 14
ULM 0

It’s a good thing, too, because the “spread eagle” looks like absolute shit

Must be a storm in the Triangle, both the UNC and Duke games are delayed.

by OrangeGator on Aug 30, 2008 7:47 PM EDT reply actions

Amazing. I have no idea how the Croc trend has spread, and now the company is even using the love/hate thing that people have for them in its advertising.

Is it permissible to deck someone wearing the Crocs in the color of the school they root for? I want a ruling on this.

by Signal to Noise on Aug 30, 2008 7:56 PM EDT reply actions

I wonder if michigan fans are shocked to realize that their offense still consists of nothing but runs up the middle and bubble screens. They actually will have even less vertical action than they are used to. The DickRod Spread is way more conventional than one might think from watching Pat White and Slaton score 80 yard TDs on ESPN. Enjoy your “futuristic offense” Big Blue. Hope for broken plays. WfVU fans have been relying on them for years.

I just got back from JHS. Our Defense looks nasty. Our offense – looks like Noel Mazzone is back on the Plains.

In other news, the Mobile Press Register Sports Sound Off editor is very busy choosing which “Bama will win the national championship this year” calls will make the cut.

by NewAZTiger on Aug 30, 2008 10:43 PM EDT reply actions

Does this mean that Bama is back again? Oh well, at least it proved yet again ESS EEE SEEE superiority… or ACC inferiority, either or.

weagle weagle our win is overshadowed which we like i will be happy to participate in any future chats

Dear Cal,

There’s this thing called electricity. You should find out what it is and learn how to use it to LIGHT YOUR DAMN FOOTBALL FIELD WHEN YOU CHOOSE TO PLAY NIGHT GAMES!

As nice as Bama looked, the ACC seriously blows…. like, SERIOUSLY..

Regards to Florida Atlantic and Howard. UT is not milque toast.

And before it ends up on Orson’s ruminations, yes, one of our players was arrested early this morning. Pulled over for a traffic stop and the police smelled alcohol. I assume a DUI is coming his way.
