The 16 more bowl games is only because the Big Ten prohibited teams from playing in bowl games for nearly 50 years. Look up the records, Michigan played in a bowl in 1902 and then another one in 1948. Same with Ohio State, they played in one in 1922 and then again in 1950. Then, once the big ten started letting teams go to bowl games, only 1 team could go and no team could go 2 years in a row…that went on for another 10 or 15 years.

Alabama and SEC teams never had such bowl restrictions, unless the NCAA banned them from a bowl season for cheating.

So yeah, Alabama has been to 16 more bowls – wow, that is impressive.
