It’s amazing that Disney let ESPN open up their checkbook for anything, having lost MNF on ABC, The Olympics, 80% of the BCS games, and other programs because they were squeezing that nickel so hard Jefferson’s head popped out the other side.

So now, I guess those “most essential oils” Raycom were going to provide to everyone are going to be used on themselves?

Gosh I sure miss 1997 – 2002

Michigan wins a NC, beats 3 out of 4 SEC teams in bowl games, and beats 2 conference champions (WSU and Bama) in bowl games.

Ohio State wins a NC and beats 3 conference champions in bowl games (ASU, aTm, and Miami).

Wisconsin wins the Big Ten twice and beats 2 Pac-10 conference champions in the Rose Bowl.

Those were the days…just remember, what goes around really goes around.

The only game I’m planning to see in person this season is Northwestern @ Indiana, so I’m really getting a kick out of the replies in #14 and #16.

Even though I’m a Big 10/11 fan, I’m all for this move. Why? Well, I am not immune to the charms of an SEC campus, especially when the gales of November come early and exposing flesh becomes a Bad Idea.

Or as my friend the Caveman would put it, “Who cares about SEC speed? I’m in it for SEC wool.”

Great, now there are 2 gorillas to deal with. I feel like I am in revolutionary France, being pulled and tugged by the monarchy and religion (Big Ten) and the revolution (SEC).

What this boils down to is that SEC games are simply more interesting than games in other conferences. What this screams for the Big XII is that we all need to schedule like Colorado and not pay out $800K for 1 game series with San Diego State. Not to mention that my team needs to be at least competent, fast.

blon57 – As for the Big 10 and Big 12 renaming themselves “Inadequate” and “Substandard” conferences….I beg to differ. The Big 12 is strong and should have no shame. They could call themselves the “Almost-as-fast-as-the-ESS-EEE-SEE-Conference” if they wanted to, but Big 12 fits better on a t-shirt.

The Big 10……carry on with the renaming. Both of your suggestions were appropriate.

JD4AU @32: Hell some of us are so ancient we remember back when there was a total of ONE college football game on TV per week on ABC. And teams were limited in the appearences they could make each season. So when USC played a top OOC game like Alabama or Oklahoma the network would have to drop the game against UCLA or Notre Dame.

SKLM @ 19: No jealousy from this USC fan. It has been a long time since a USC game was not on TV in SoCal.
