COUNTDOWN: 8

The little flickering part of his brain that was still sparking coherent thought through the fog of mind-numbing terror that filled Colon's head was telling him that he was so far out of his depth that the fish had lights on their noses.

For the sake of thoroughness, I’ve taken it upon myself to link the entire play that is the subject of this post.

Good choice on the Pratchett quote

Sigh….it’s been almost a year, and that play still makes me want to gouge out my eyes…..
by sandman227 on Aug 20, 2008 5:45 PM EDT reply actions
Some of my bammer bretheren might even agree with me on this …
That play was really, truly all about who wanted IT more.

That dog thinks that quote was a bunch of pretentious crap.
by John on Aug 20, 2008 6:04 PM EDT reply actions
JD,
I’ll second that…effort, plus the fact that 50% of the plays that JPW had even the slightest hand in turned into shit-sandwiches last year

Thank God Aaron Savage found a way to make his typical never turning to look for the ball work for him…….

My bad – Jerraud Powers…..but unfortunately same comment.

Ugh. And DJ wonders why he wasn’t drafted.

I second gainesvilleramblings’ sentiment.
Love me some Pratchett.

Matt at 12 -
let’s all hope those hands stay fresh to the end of the season… because beating a team with a star like that on it is Auburn’s specialty
right Tebow?

Leave this one up for a while in the morning.
I’m betting the comments could get kinda fun…

Julio would have made that catch in the Auburn game.
I hope he lives up to the “Lebron James type talent” who could go from High School to the pros. We shall see. Looks good so far. Saban ordered that video to come down, dont know why.
by Mr. Pelican Pants on Aug 20, 2008 11:03 PM EDT reply actions
16: Saban probably had it pulled because of the two pop-tarts that were toasting out there in the secondary.

I am sorely disappointed at the lack of intra-Alabama sniping this photo has caused. I POST THESE THINGS SO YOU WILL FIGHT FOR OUR AMUSEMENT. DANCE, PUPPETS.

Nice try Holly, but that game is history. We are on the brink of a new season and all is fresh and clean.
We’re all undefeated!

Can the 2009 countdown be 100 percent Pratchett? I’m thinking we can bring back Tom Zbiboxerguy for the following gem:
“Build a man a fire, and he’ll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he’ll be warm for the rest of his life.”

Point of information: 2012 will be the 40th anniversary of the famous “Punt, Bama, Punt” game of 1972. If Tommy Tuberville keeps the streak going, it will also be the eleventh straight Iron Bowl victory for the Tigers, eclipsing the 10-year stretch over Auburn by Bear Bryant.
Fear the Thumb? Nah brah, Fear the Big Toe.

So you’re the second state trooper from the left, and one of the perks of ‘protecting’ a major college coach is that you have a front-row seat to watch this pivotal play… maybe 12 yards away.
Why are you watching it on the big screen?!?!
pshht, Cops. sigh

Isn’t bragging about a play in a scrimmage self defeating? Someone in the play has to suck.
by nixforsix on Aug 21, 2008 9:16 AM EDT reply actions
Once again, bama fans are in a tizzy about something that didn’t actually happen in a game.
by ChemE93 on Aug 21, 2008 9:42 AM EDT reply actions
Nice play like that earns you a Ziemba-style ass kicking down on the plains.
WHAT
by Julio's Stiff Baby Arm on Aug 21, 2008 9:46 AM EDT reply actions
Poor choice of pictures Holly. If you wanted your desired result, why didn’t you go to your staple pic of the barn hicks wanting $5 to shake dead Bear’s hand? You must be saving that one for a future posting.
An NFL coordinator said DJ Hall wouldn’t go over the middle of the field even if a $1,000 bill was there with his name on it. Unbelievable talent with no heart. Imagine if he actually tried.
Pelican – JJ’s going to be good, real good. But let’s remember who’s throwing him the ball.

#23…If by “suck” you mean the top recruit in all the land vs. an all-SEC safety, then I guess you’re right.
by adolph oliver bush on Aug 21, 2008 10:02 AM EDT reply actions
that quote sent me on a google trek that ended up on the wikipedia page for Terry Pratchett. Interesting guy…guess I’ll be getting one of his books.
And to think I only use to visit this site for Friday cheesecake and to chuckle at your unadulterated man crush on the baby rhino…
by WeisGravy on Aug 21, 2008 11:07 AM EDT reply actions
Well you have to ask yourself… was that the type of tackle an “all SEC safety” should make?
by nixforsix on Aug 21, 2008 11:49 AM EDT reply actions
or maybe ask yourself if julio really is that good.

You mean like Tyler Watts, Brodie Croyle, and JPW before him?
by weagle251 on Aug 21, 2008 2:14 PM EDT reply actions
weagle251…jpw wasn’t highly recruited and croyle was a 3rd round NFL draft pick, i’ll give you tyler watts though
by matt on Aug 21, 2008 2:28 PM EDT reply actions
I’ll concede JPW, but Croyle was super-hyped before and after he was recruited. I seem to remember a rumor that John Croyle was consulted for both the Price and Shula hires because he wanted a system that would fit in with his son. Then, all we heard for his so. and jr. years was that the Tide wouldn’t have lost to Auburn if they’d had Brodie. We saw how well that worked out. Even after that, he was treated like a rock star within the state. He has to stay on the list with Watts.
by weagle251 on Aug 21, 2008 3:52 PM EDT reply actions
Logical question, that was 1 play. Why is the video 2 minutes long? Were there not other plays to be added? and if not why is the video not say 20 seconds long, tops.
