WhiteSpeedReceiver says:
Of course, it’s all relative to the size of the person in the background. If he’s around 6 feet tall, that means Julio’s about 3 feet off the ground. If he’s a circus midget, Julio might have problems jumping over the sunday paper.
Either way….wow.

Anyone know what his vertical leap happens to be? I assume he has incredible speed and will turn out to be a great possession receiver, if all his hype holds up over the next four years.
#3- I watched a replay of the Alabama-Georgia game yesterday on ESPNU, catching it late in the game, from the beginning of the fourth quarter. Great finish. JPW didn’t look too bad, but maybe that was a good day?

Star Jackson says:
I am playing with Alabama in an online dynasty with some friends on NCAA09. I benched JPW for Star Jackson, who leads the Heisman race after 8 weeks. Last night I beat Ole Miss 46-3 and Julio went off with about 10 catches for 200 yards and 4 touchdowns. He’s a goon, he’s a beast, he’s a muthafuckin problem…and I’m just a huge dork.

Judging on how JPW usually throws in a game, I expect to see a lot of this from Julio “Iglasias” Jones.

According to Rivals, he has a 41 inch vertical. And he’s 6′4. Jebus. Why’s he have to play for Satan?

The Snake will Drive Again! says:
Blon – yes, JPW at times looks like a very capable SEC QB. However, at times he looks well below average (LSU and MSU games 07 come to mind). I like the kid; great attitude and grit, but his brain just seems to get in his way at times. Hopefully the new OC and his “QB friendly” offense will settle him down a bit.

He certainly is very talented and no doubt Mel Kiper has his eye on him already.
His “ups” won’t help him dig balls off his shoelaces.

It will be difficult for JPW to get the annointed one the ball when he has a perfect view of all the renovations made to the Georgia Dome ceiling.
FWIW, I say AJ Green has the better collegiate career.

El Kabong!!! says:
While Julio is the physical freak, there are players on the team that claim to have witnessed Terrence Cody perform a 360 degree dunk on the basketball court.
Why is this impressive? Unlike Julio, Cody plays defensive tackle, and is rumored to be the largest player Alabama has ever had at 6′6″ and 390lbs.
The few films floating around of practice make the guy look like Glenn Dorsey playing against a peewee football team. If he is half the player on the field that he appears to be in practice, then the SEC offensive line coaches should be fearful for their jobs.

Crimson Geezer says:
What the images and stats don’t tell you is Julio’s incredible YAC factor. He is extremely hard to bring down and elusive as smoke from a distant fire. Look for him to leave some jaws dropping around the league on routine hooks, outs and crossing patterns, followed by 15-20 yard bursts and more.

CrimsonCommodore says:
For some reason, that picture reminds me of the scene in Return of the Jedi where the Emperor sneeringly informs Luke that the Second Death Star, while appearing to be largely under construction, is actually a fully functional battle station. And then they proceed to obliterate the nearest Rebel Heavy Cruiser.

I honestly don’t think Auburn will be able to get away with that chop blocking shit this year.
They got a bit of a free pass this past season, but if it starts happening again, I look for refs to be on the lookout for it strongly and taking appropriate action, meaning most likely expulsion from that game for the offending lineman (or linemen).

I don’t know what report YOU heard from the AL/MS all star game…….but take it from someone who was there and isn’t a Bama fan, Julio Jones had everyones jaw on the ground. He also had a pretty moderate case of turf toe we were told, but it didn’t matter…..he made folks look foolish.
The only guy who contained him was Alonzo Lawrence but he won’t have to worry about him anymore because Saban went ahead and made sure he came to Bama as well.
I hate to say it as an LSU fan but in about 2 yrs Alabama is going to be a BEAST. The team this will really kill is Auburn…..at least at LSU we’ll get most of the top talent in Louisianna, I have no clue what Auburn’s going to do.
