Good question about whether Ingram would want to come back for another year. How much better could his draft status be if he rehabbed and played a year versus rehabbing and going straight to the combine or NFL workouts? I can’t answer that. No question it’s a risk to play one single snap more than necessary.

As for the rent thing – while I can appreciate the fact that the landlord is asking for attorney’s fees – the whole deal is really cold – and not good PR for the leasing agency. As if they care.

Also, the rule ignores the reality of how coaches often use it: they’ll play a freshman during the first few games (once you play past the midway point of a season it counts as a full season) and then a sore shoulder or tender ankle is cited as the reason in requesting a redshirt (it’s not like the NCAA is going to get into the issue of trying to determine severity of injury). C.I. didn’t get that treatment from (name redacted) as a freshman because he was playing QB at the time and (name redacted didn’t exactly have the luxury of using his fourth-string QB. But if C.I. had played and been given one of those pseudo-injured redshirt seasons in 2004 then today he would be eligible to apply for a waiver to come back next year.

That said, why would C.I. want to come back to the same risk,

You’d think he could sign with an agent or something and get an advance? I know he Urban just pegged him to be team captain and all, but would that put the brakes from getting some coin from the always-scrupulous sports agent universe?

Well, debts are debts, and I haven’t a clue of Ingram’s pay history with the property. Maybe this month-late payment was the last straw. Evictions can be a real bitch, from what I understand. Why not include the attorney’s fees? I certainly would if I was suing Company X in small claims court.

Ingram received a lot of ink over his injury, and this eviction story is just the worst kind of abuse for keeping a name in the news. Has their ever been another college football player to make the news for getting kicked out of an apartment?

Oh, wait, the NCAA actually does not equal all of those things, quite the opposite, infact.

Who is the bigger asshole, the “journalist” who broke the big story about the late rent, or the Gainesville landlord for seeking attorney’s fees?
