Now that Oregon State has passed Oregon, it’s fun to watch Duck fans backpedal…and say all of the same things that Husky fans were saying in 2002.

While it’s hard to deny this writer’s knowledge of the sport, it’s plain as day to see the shear unobjectivity he, like most water rat fans, has.

The outright poking of the bees nest in attempting to mock Oregon, the Ducks, Eugene and Ducks fans is hilarious. No capital letters in any of the above words? Try a little harder champ.

The reason Ducks fans see Washington as the real rival is because Oregon had to beat the Fuskies to get over the hump over a decade ago, when OS(U) was still losing 12 games a year, to take the leap to the top of the conference.

The difference is, Ducks see the Civil War as a rivalry game, and see the Fuskies as a rival. Where the water rats can’t help but keep their eyes on the Ducks at all times. And the fact that os(u) fans always insist on insisting os(u) is Oregon’s “real” rival just underlines the cornvalley’s undying obsession with Oregon.

But overall, a good post.

Maybe the best one I’ve read. Yeah, a little long, but worth it. Well done.

I’ve heard that the OSU/OU rivalry is really hate-filled, and you’ve got that covered.

I was at the Cincinnati/OSU game, so I know where you’re coming from on the summer bowl loss. That was a beatdown.

And OU does have worse uniforms, but the black and orange aren’t exactly pretty.

Anyway, good luck. Hard not to root for beaver.

Putting aside Oregon losing with it’s 15th string QB last year (and that still required overtime), there’s an entire generation of kids in Corvallis who don’t know that it’s possible to win in Eugene.

USC will lose at Oregon St or at Arizona this year, and won’t lose another game. I could see the Beavers finishing as high as 2.

This was comedy to read. I can’t say my buddy at Oregon would like it on the other side of the Civil War too much, but it’s quality work.

Don’t watch the rivalry game with the team across the state who happens to be ranked in everyone’s pre-season top-20????

And then this as a reason NOT to watch the game: “Since there�s now an entire generation of children being raised in eugene who don�t know that it�s possible for the ducks to even win in Corvallis … .”

This is the problem with, and why us Southerners scratch our heads about, the PAC-10 football mindset.
