CORNELIUS INGRAM: TORN ACL

Cornelius Ingram, TE, has a torn ACL according to Joe Schad on ESPN. It’s not the worst news for Florida, who has a potent replacement in Aaron Hernandez coming up, but it sucks royally for Ingram on a personal and karmic level. Ingram came back for his senior season, thrived at TE after moving over from qb, and has been the ho-hum oh just perfect citizen as far as being a credit to his school, team, and the utterly awesome name “Cornelius.”
You know what really broke his ACL, though, according to Urban Meyer? That damned celebration, of course. Urban Meyer hasn’t forgotten about that.

Is this the guy Urban recruited to play QB and, in an effort to get him to sign, told him they were recruiting Tebow to play linebacker?

One of those guys who seems like he’s been at Florida for about sixteen years. I remember him tearing up our secondary in the title game. Hope he heals up in time for the combine so he can help his draft position, because it’ll probably take a hit.

What was wrong with it? Seemed like an honest question.
Anyway, Ingram is from Hawthorne and I happened to meet his uncle one day when I was over there doing some work. We talked about him continuing to play both basketball and football and the likelihood of him dropping basketball, which he did. Really good kid. I echo #2’s well wishes.

When I first came to UF, I wasn’t a Gator fan. The player who really won me over was CI, whom I liked to call Cornelio (pronounced with the same inflection as when Will Ferrell says “Emilio!” in Night at the Roxbury). Put simply, I am really sad to see this happen. I was really looking forward to watching my favorite player tear up opposing defenses this year. I am praying that he chooses to pursue a medical redshirt so his UF career doesn’t end with a whimper.

Derrick Harvey gone to the pros? No worries, we have Carlos Dunlap who will be a sophomore superstar!
Jamar Hornsby is gone? No worries, we have plenty of other safeties!
What, Dorian Munroe gone? No worries, we have Will Hill who will be a true freshman superstar!
Our two leaders in receiving TDs from ‘07 now gone? No worries, we have ________ who will be a star as a first-year starter! Little tougher job for Percy Harvin? Nahhh…
Torrey Davis flunked out? No worries… we have plenty of true freshmen superstars to fill in at defensive tackle in the SEC!!
Good luck with all that.

Speaking of classless/redneck/etc., the worst fan display I’ve ever witnessed was during the Ala./Fla. game in 2005 when Prothro went down. A group of Gator fans in the upper deck above the student section started flashing four fingers (prothro was #4) and then doing the throat-slashing gesture. Talk about rings in hell…

yeah i was at that uf/bama game in 05 as well, sitting right on the aisle where a fence seperated the bama student section from the gator section. its one thing to talk smack with other college age people, or even middle age guys who chatter back, but seeing obv underaged and hammered bama frat guys calling a couple of ladies old enough to be any of our grandmothers filthy cunts and then throwing a full coke on them takes the cake. This happened approx 1.5 min before prothro injury. always sucks to see someone get hurt, but the punched in the stomach look on those guys let me know the football karma gods were at work

Do I relish these incidents. No. Is there some malicious or nefarious cheering on my part that this ultimately increases our chances. No.
I have been watching CFB for the better part of 35 years. It’s entertainment now. I love the best against the best. Balls to the wall OT wins (sorry Bama), great comebacks (AU 2005, Vandy 2006), unbelievable 2nd half’s (UGA vs. VT 2006). And this is just in the last few years.
If I had attended tOSU or USCw, I probably would have quit watching football decades ago. What’s the point…90% of their games are decided by the second quarter. It is not the best against the best.
To have the crowd aroar, last minute goal line stands, pick 6’s and 50 yard field goals is the essence of football entertainment.
That said, I hope CI makes a speedy recovery. And plays again.
If you want top heavy, mediocre football stay away from the SEC. If you want entertainment at its finest

Regarding fans, I don’t think any school is exempt from examples of poor taste, classless acts or the like. I’m sure there’s even been a Vandy frat boy at some point in time who spit on an opposing fans car when no one was looking.

DoubleDawg @ #1…the Urban legends never die… Jevon Snead decommitted when he thought Tebow was coming to Florida…Snead was with Tebow at the QB camp and knew Tebow wasn’t gonna be a lb whether he went to Florida or Alabama…so to say Urban lied is simply a petty enjoyable dig at an opposing successful coach…
Regardless, CI’s season ending injury is a shame and I sincerely hope he has a rapid and comlete recovery.

I don’t know who all these classless Gators were that Bama fans refer to as cheering, making gestures, and otherwise daming themselves to a life in hell for mocking Prothro after the injury. Sitting smack dab in that terrible, terrible Gator section, I distinctly recall a sense of “holy-shit-did-they-score-again?-we’re-getting-our-asses-kicked-ok-good-he-dropped-it” then the entire section sensing something was truly, horribly wrong on the field and a stunned silence for the remainder of the game.
