Around SBN: Jeremy Lin's Game-Winner Was Incredible, Worth Remembering

COUNTDOWN: 22

“If people bring so much courage to this world the world has to kill them to break them, so of course it kills them. The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good, and the very gentle, and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too, but there will be no special hurry.”

“I did not know that” Dept:

I did not know that Ernest Hemmingway was a USC fan.

Learn somethang new everyday.

Will the NC2A-holes kill USC (Bush fiasco)? I hope not, but you never know….

That was one of the worst days of my life. Soaked to the bone, watching USC dismantle Cal, passing out, losing my watch, and catching some communicable disease from visiting the ol’ fraternity house.

There was no sadder sight than watching my drunken, sopping, miserable figure slumped in a BART seat.

Fie, a pox on thee Orson!

I was accosted by several Ron Paul supporters on the way to the game, and was greeted by the stoned apathy of treesitters on the way out. Awful. I was ready to start sawing down the Oaks with my bare hands.

When did this site get Cal fans?

by Captain Awesome on Aug 6, 2008 10:17 PM EDT reply actions

Too many USCw pics this year. Hope this is a curse, like the mummy in Aqua Teen Hunger Force inflicted on Carl. Pete needs a nice tail.

Thanx for Strakvega$/Croominator pic yesterday.

TCOAN, another day closer to TPFSFSMOKEDMULLET (and honey pie)

Why did you post this picture? I just got done fucking being pissed off about this game.

the caption of course refers to what will happen to Nick Saban when he fails to produce a MNC within 3 yrs at UA

Fucking awesome game. Seemingly in spite of the bitter cold and torrential rain (I think I’m still wet from that night), that was one of the most electric games I’ve ever been to. Props to Cal fans (except for dippies sitting next to me eating trail mix all night).

That quote is perfect for that scene – Stafon’s touchdown capped a stupid long drive that literally broke Cal’s back. Fantastic.

Oh man that was a sweet game. I had a primo seat on the hill, but I will never again attend a game there without a posse of Trojan men. I got beat up by a dude twice my size (cuz I took a swing at his friend who had thrown a cup of beer at my face), and the fight was stopped by my Cal friend – she had to break us apart and remind the guy, dude, she’s a girl. He walked off still glaring, trying to keep the fight going… and later ended up rolling down the hill fighting with another Cal fan.
They really mean it when they say no red on the hill.

Hey Asshole!

No red on the hill!

There wouldn’t have been any other USC pictures in the countdown if I’d seen this one first. Preeeeetty.

Am I the only one who had to read that first sentence three times? Methinks there’s a few periods and semicolons missing.

Hey didn’t that Billy Joel dude write a song that was somethin’ along those lines??

Ok, color me stupid (I am a Bama fan), but where is that quote from?

I think I prefer the Booty to Smith pass play on 4th & 2 from the previous year.

This accumulated karma is going to torpedo SC eventually, but in the meantime I shall confine myself to cackling.

@Captain Awesome:
Good call, I don’t remember seeing this many Cal fans on EDSBS before.

Its good to see more Pac 10 fans around here. As long as its not commenters from the Bruinsnation crew. Those guys are just a little bit insane (see SMQ-Bruinsnation controversy).

#19…

How dare you call into question the sanity of the Attendees and Alumni of the Greatest University In The History Of Universities Whose Name Should Be Changed To God College For Gods who will lose 8 games (but beat USC). How dare you.

That was a F_CKING awesome game. Hey CrazyPi, you and I discussed this over at 82Sluggo last year, ‘member?
I was higher than 10 Indians (you ever see 10 Indians coming out of a tent after smoking the double-dank-death-bud?) That’s how high I was. And I got some after-game booty AND I got some commemorative hats (1st 15K? Sure, wasn’t me though).

Thanks for bringing back some good memories EDSBS!
