COUNTDOWN: 27
“’Tis the maddest trick a man can ever play in his whole life, to let his breath sneak out of his body without any more ado, and without so much as a rap o’er the pate, or a kick of the guts; to go out like the snuff of a farthing candle, and die merely of the mulligrubs, or the sullens.”

Isn’t that from Don Quixote? If so, maybe a photo from Okie State? Pickens has a lot of windmills and you can draw inferences to his support of said football program and tilting at windmills…

Well enough of this countdown for me.
I’m headed back to South America, the non-earthquake prone side this year. One of the things I’m going to do there is to catch a game at a place the makes the Swamp or Death Valley look like a sunday-school picnic. The largest stadium in the world, Maracana. They used to cram 180,000 people in there.
The fubol team I’m going to see next weekend is the most popular in Brazil, Flamengo. It’s considered the team of the favelas And the fans have the reputation for being extreme, even in a place where extreme is the norm.

I’ll give my regards to Knockout Ned if I see him down there.

More ND fans than UCLA fans in the bowl that night. In the middle of a 3-9 season.

Slightly OT: I’m assuming the lack of Snoop Dogg / Les Miles discussion is because most of America, like me, is so stunned by The Hat’s attempt at rapping that they’ve been rendered speechless.

Not even close, George, but that was still the worst possible game to fly home to see, yet actually less painful than going to South Bend the year before.

Swindle posted about it a couple days ago, but really, what else is there to say? There is no possible way to make that funnier. It’s perfect as is.

#8 Lotta Notre Dame fans (20-30K), a lot more UCLA fans (50-60K) in the Rose Bowl, and collectively the biggest bunch of ‘SC haters ever assembled. They high-fived each other over the Stanford upset of USC and then got back to the raunchy game in progress.
