It was at this point in the game when the Fox Sports producers had to nudge the broadcast team in order to get them to wake up an call the rest of the game.

Not to nitpick, Ryno, but if memory serves, Tom Brennaman was wide awake. Of course, he awakened himself by pissing in his culottes with righteous indignation about how awfully the mean nasty Bulldogs were treating the poor Hawaii players, but still.

How many hours did Colt Brennan pack his whole body in ice the next morning? Im thinkin a long frickin time…he more than likely needed a full body CAT SCAN to check for internal bleeding……

That game was brutal… simply brutal.

Colt’s experience was like Don Meredith’s MNF joke about the Saints giving plays away. When Cosell asked how, he responded “when it’s a pass, the other ten players are laughing & Archie’s pale as a ghost”.

Goddamn that was an ugly game. I was hanging out with a bunch of Hawaiian friends and I thought they were going to start crying.

Every once in a while the Universe reminds an underdog why they’re an underdog….

That hit could not have happened to a better guy.

I’m a Dawg fan, but by the third quarter I was yelling at the TV: “Throw the towel already! The kid’s had enough!”

We rewatched that hit over and over (regular speed and slo-mo) and cringed every single time. Then the 40 time Howard ran at the combine made me cringe all over again just thinking about it.

If there is someone I hate more than Hawaiian people in general, it’s Colt Brennan. God bless UGa.

And even though this is true, Mark May picked them for the upset. And he still has a job at TWWL.

Hawaii had no business being in that game. I still can’t believe the line I got on it but I won’t complain. Thanks for the money Vegas!!!!!

It doesn’t seem fair that Brennan is tackled by a guy who weighs 240 pounds and won the South Carolina 100 m dash his senior year in high school. The laws of physics should not allow such a collision to occur.

I’m not sure who felt worse the morning after, Colt Brennan’s spleen or me, with my massive celebratory hangover.

So I guess what we learned from last year’s Sugar Bowl is that the “experts” at ESPN are as bad (worse?) than the “announcers” for Fox?

First, Clemson was back and was going to upset Georiga. Then Boise State was going to make its splash ’tween the hedges. Then Okie State. Then Hawaii.

#7, Player 59 wasn’t being blocked. Arsoon was just… um… quite enamored of 59 and wanted to show that. 59 was peeking around to make sure someone got a hit in on Brennan.

#25, WVU is conspicuously absent from your list. I’m a Georgia fan but I firmly believe that the Hawaii game was Georgia’s penance for falling asleep at the wheel against West Virginia and letting the Big East remain relevant in college football.

Yeah, Mark May’s analysis was that Georgia wouldn’t be able to have enough of a pass rush to hinder Brennan’s deep game…which might be the stupidest thing ever said ever. Even pregame it sounded like a bunch of bull, assuming that Georgia wouldn’t pull another ’06 Sugar Bowl. During the game it seemed even worse.

Count me in as one of the Dawgs who was calling for the bell to be rung and the match to be called. By the time Howard exorcised the Boise State dreams out of Colt Brennan, my bowl party had long since cleared out, the FOX clowns had gotten on my last nerve, and I was nearly falling asleep. Thanks, Hawai’i, for making what was a nice cap to a solid season appear boring as hell.

I stayed at the Sugar Bowl until the very end for some reason – I think we decided we’d had enough crown anyway. Our group was one of few UGA groups remaining. The remarkable thing is how so many of those Hawai’i fans were there until the end – they were like the goddamned Whos down in Whoville – there wasn’t a bit of boo-hooing . If I hadn’t been so drunk, I think I might have heard them singing. Or maybe they were still in shock:

You were still there b/c you got into the Crown, they were still there b/c they got into the last of the Who Ham and Who Hash they bought in the Quarter. Poor bastards just didn’t realize that somebody left the Who out of said hash. That may also explain the nonsensical singing, BTW. Lesson: never buy anything comestible from a dreadlocked guy wearing purple sunglasses at night in the French Quarter. Don’t ask me how I know.

I obviously wasn’t at the game, but from what I heard Hawai’i fans were good people who cheered hard. All you could ask.
