THE CONGRESSIONAL BOWL, SPONSORED BY HORMEL
Get it? Because it's pork! The Congressional Bowl is coming, even if you didn't want it to.

Ooooo… “broadcasting legend” Bob Greise!
And does it sound funny to anyone else that the ACC is having it’s conference in Greensboro, GA? Why don’t they just say that it’s at Reynolds Plantation or on Lake Oconee?
I foresee an at-large bid for this bowl…
Lastly, Orson: no commentary yet on the proposed inclusion of Navy and Army in the Big East? I like the idea.

Great. Just what this city needs… more shitty football.

- By “in” the Big East, do you mean if teams that are actually in the conference get conference wins by beating Army and Navy, while they aren’t part of the conference ?

Yet another Bowl game for Notre Dame to lose.
Great news Irish fans.

“Ninth” best team in the ACC? Why don’t they just invite Wofford instead?

Maybe the Congressional Bowl will pay their rent to the city, unlike the Nationals. Who could have predicted that a baseball ownership team would be a bunch of chiseling malcontents?

Yeah, that game will suck in December. But if it were on this Saturday, I’d build my whole weekend around it. The season cannot get here fast enough.

#5: Yeah or some other screwy arrangement. My thought was that the ACC could have added Navy instead of BC if only for the sake of the “geographic footprint.” But, hey, what the hell do I know?
Call me old fashioned (mmm… old fashions), but I think Army and Navy should have a sniff of access to the BCS on principle.
#7. Indeed!

Nats games included, at least they’re putting all the crappy sports entertainment in one stadium. Heaven forbid they would do something with Navy’s stadium in Annapolis, which sits right on the water and is surrounded by great restaurants.

DC Domer,
Sure, but it’s tiny. It would never hold the literally dozens of people who will attend this game.

Those clowns in Congress did it again.
How about those clowns.

I’m surprised Ted Stevens didn’t get this thing put in Alaska next to his $320 million bridge.
Of course, he’s under indictment as of today, so it would have to be in Leavenworth for him to watch it.

Ohioan, Michael Vick resides in Leavenworth at the moment, so perhaps he could play all-time quarterback.

Geez, there are two other actual football stadiums in the DC area alone and they pick the baseball stadium?
Go figure.

Since this will be played in “the north” in winter, we know the SEC will have nothing to do with it, no matter the payout.

I can see FedEx Field not being available because of the Skins season, and I can see using Navy’s stadium being problematic because of assorted Homeland Security concerns…but rather than contemplating the use of the Nats’ stadium, I would ask WTF wants a bowl game in DC in the first place.
Of course, the Giants are still paying off the mortgage on Pac Bell SBC AT&T Park, which is the only explanation for the Deez Emerald Nuts bowl…

Hmm congress bowl eh, gift basket to include: Shout wipes for accidental intern related cum stains, Tylenol PMs for sleeping through fillibusters, free passes to the Camelot Showbar, Sunglasses with fake eyes so you can take standup-naps during boring campaign stops, Rolodex of shift oilmen, and or mineral rights wildcatters depending on state, Yearly stipend of get out of jail free cards for drug addicted son or daughter. And so on.

Since they will be busy beating the piss out of Ohio State in the BCS, we know the SEC will have nothing to do with it, no matter the payout.

Could have used RFK or Byrd Stadium as well, both of which are actually built for and available for football. However, that would be realistic and sane.
As far as the game itself, watching the ninth (!) choice from the ACC play Navy? Hell, I live in the DC area, and the only way I would go is if it’s free (i.e, Nationals ticketholders get free seats)
