Hiawtha @ 20: You are entirely correct. Coach Carroll isn’t the problem here. The poor kid may have just provoked Rey Maualuga into taking extra Notre Dame head or two as trophies though.

And the kid’s 15 ypc is impressive but then Everson Griffen had gaudy numbers like that as a tailback too. And he’s now on the defensive line

tony-the-tiger… i know its a cliche but the first two seasons miles was at lsu the starters were almost exclusively sabans players, and the majority of last years nc team’s players were sabans recruits as well, and he had to get damn lucky last year on several occasions to win. I’m not predicting an lsu collapse, but a few 8-4 seasons are much more likely than lsu winning any sec or nc’s in the near future9 (btw, I’m an Alabama fan, and I would be happy to go 8-4 this year)

more fun than (or is it “then”) watching Alabama go near winless will be watching them come up with different excuses each and every week for why they keep losing to teams that didn’t deserve to win.

possible excuses:

-”if only we hadn’t gotten sacked that last 11 times…”

-”if only we hadn’t thrown that pick…”

-”if only we hadn’t fumbled…”

-”if only we had called ‘heads’ instead of ‘tails’…”

-”if only the Bear was still around…”

how about “if only we had scored more points than our opponent!?!?!?!” I mean, shit- even Corso can figure out that that is at least somewhat important to winning ball games…

53 – Miles has coached 3 Seasons at LSU. His first season he went to the SECCG and destroyed Miami in the Peach Bowl. His second season he went to the Sugar Bowl and destroyed Notre Dame. His third Season he won an SECCG and a destroyed OSU for a BCS title. Let’s see, 2 BCS bowl victories, 2 championships in 3 years – how is that any worse than what Saban did with his own players in Baton Rouge?

Saban won 2 SECCGs and 2 BCS bowl games in 5 years. Do the math.

I’m going to love watching Bama fans in 2008.

Saban’s D had problems against the Spread last year.

24 Points to Houston – who had a last minute potential game-winning drive end with an INT. Houston.

21 Points to La Mo. Oops.

24 Points to Colorado.

That’s not reassuring, considering the quality of the opponent that hung up those points. and the paucity of Linebackers.

They play at least 7 teams in 2008 that run the spread (Clemson, Tulane, WKU, Arkansas, Kentucky, Arkansas State, AU) , as well as 2 teams that don’t run the spread but have better talent than they do (LSU, UGA). It’s going to be a long, wonderful year watching Saban’s D collapse again and again vs the Spread.

LSU fans have won the right to ridicule us Alabama fans, especially after our performance last year against U-La-Mo.

Having said that, if I were an LSU fan, I would be shitting my knickers right now thinking about keeping Miles around for several more years.

I don’t think there has been a coach that has done less with more talent since, well, ever. The only way the guy could sniff the national championship game was a complete fluke year where a 2 loss team could play in the game. There is no doubt that LSU has had the most talented team in the country this side of Los Angeles for the last five or six years.

Christ, the guy fucking lost to Kentucky and Arkansas last year, and nearly lost to Florida, Auburn, and lowly Alabama.

I would be more worried about taking out insurance on that horseshoe he had surgically implanted in his ass than I would be about anything the Bama nation can bring to Baton Rouge.

I wasn’t twisting words, just pointing out the following: you said LSU won because of Chad Jones; Chad Jones is a Miles recruit; many bama fans say LSU is only winning because of Saban’s recruits.

Thus, either Chad Jones is not the reason LSU won, or Miles wins with other than just Saban’s players.

Bama fans can’t have it both ways — why don’t y’all get together and pick whichever excuse makes you feel better…
