The difference between the SEC and Big Ten is this play. When Santonio Holmes did this, he got flagged every time for excessive celebration. In the SEC, they only flag if there is no diving.

It was especially unfair to Holmes, who dove to avoid tripping on his own penis.

November 15th is going to be a football feast.

Besides the UGA-AU love fest, which is a must watch, you’ve got:

McSweaterVest’s Revenge vs the Fighting Redacti
SOS returns to the Swamp
USC’s ass-raping revenge against Stanford
The Croomin’ of Alabama Pt II
Manginos eat Texas

That silence you hear is Birmingham. No one in this town (Alabama or Auburn) has been able to say shit to me for years now. You can hear a pin drop, and the occasional gun shot.

I do encounter the occasional Tennessee fan, which is unfortunate.

Thanks for the memories, Orson. Brandon Cox was indicted for male fraud for that performance.

@9, sorry about that. The Bammers will tell you that the loss in ’06 was B.S.* though, and therefore expunged from the recordbooks**.

Guys, guys, there will be no Crooming this year.
If Tim Tebow is Superman, Julio Jones is Spiderman, catching everything that normally would be an INT from JPW and turning it into 6pts……

But who’s more now, Tebow or Julio Jones? I say Jones, for while Tebow is Superman he isn’t supermannin’ dose ho’s. Discuss.

If there are any kids that read this blog….Tra was a generous 5’11" 170lbs. Walk-on. Later became All-Sec. Chemistry major. Undrafted. Picked up by the San Diego Chargers.

I worked with his parents, who were good people. His mother told me that Max Jean-Giles would come for holidays to her home because of the distance to his home in Florida. She made an extra pan of cornbread just for him. You can’t be disingenuous about the pride of this family.

Point is….there are many stories out there about the “can’t miss” athletes.

The one’s that had a HEART “above and beyond” their abilities…. can make a difference.

@17

BBS….Taco Stand near the corner of Milledge and Prince. If you are in Athens town.

At $45k/year, in this economy, it sounds like you could use a little roughage. Black beans have a way of erasing past costiveness.

by hunglikehussain on Jul 22, 2008 8:48 PM EDT reply actions

Straight up, there’s nothing like the Taco Stand in Gainesville. 1-2 meals/day there when I’m in Athens.

“That silence you hear is Birmingham. No one in this town (Alabama or Auburn) has been able to say shit to me for years now. You can hear a pin drop, and the occasional gun shot.”

If you use “Alabama and Auburn,” it isn’t sincere to use “years” because it’s only been one year for Auburn. Unless of course, you are referring to the fact that since the 5 previous meetings were a combined 192-41 score, there wasn’t really a need for shit-talking by Auburn fans- beating Mississippi State was becoming about as regular as a bowel movement Metamucil-fueled bowel movement.

The photo above (‘06, if I’m not mistaken) is from the last game I saw in Jordan-Hare. I am kind of scared to go back.

Bryant-Denny on the other hand…

Random note- why do I have an ad for gay.com as I’m typing this, which the message of “he just knew”?

@1: Um, I do believe he was flagged on that play. Georgia is always flagged on dives into the end zone (even when, as pictured here, there is a defender within shouting distance of the scorer). Some believe this is due to the fact that Dooley chaired the committee which came up the NCAA celebration penalties.

@ 17: That’s what you get for your money. Did $45K get you a football team to brag about?

@ 22: Not Bizzaro Bulldogs, Aubie: Georgia Bulldogs. UGA beat Bama in ’02, ’03 and last year; beat AU the last two years.

by UgasTexan on Jul 23, 2008 10:35 AM EDT reply actions

This is obviously photoshopped. Georgia hasn’t scored on Auburn in at least 11 years.

by ChemE93 on Jul 23, 2008 12:11 PM EDT reply actions

I am not going to jump on the GA National Championship bandwagon just yet, but I will admit they are going to be the force to be reckoned with this year.
But everyone must also be honest with themselves and remember that Auburn is known to come out of nowhere and spoil otherwise perfect seasons or otherwise Championship deserving teams’ hopes, as highlighted in the last decade or so against Florida, Georgia, and LSU.
Not that we wrecked their seasons, per se, but we can be notorious thorns-in-sides of those hopefulls…

  1. I do not wonder that last years game in Athens has not lodged in Your memory, after all it was a “blackout weekend”. It was not the first blackout I have experenced in Athens, just the most enjoyable, at least from what I can remember. Knowshon is never flagged for His dives into the endzone, and not just because He dives over defensive players. Tebow is Superman, Knowshon is the Umbermensch, He is not bound by Your rules. Nor the law of gravity.

by shanensga on Jul 23, 2008 2:17 PM EDT reply actions

Re: #30

Knowshon may well be the U(m)bermensch.

He may well not be bound by Your rules.

However, gravity found him multiple times in Neyland last year, likely secondary to the combined paunches of Fulmer and Chavis nearby, not to mention 100K Tennessee fans.

That being said, please continue bashing the state of Alabama.
