Dude used to be good. Now, his listeners are 70% UAT daywalkers, and he lets them control the show. To say he’s not in the tank for Bama is to defy reality.

However, I have had to dial out for about 18 mos now because the Saban suckfest is over the top, even for Finebaum, and doesn’t show any signs of letting up in the near future.

Finebaum isn’t good sports radio for several reasons:
1. Paul doesn’t understand the details of football very well. In other words, he can’t explain to you why certain plays did or did not work.
2. He’s not a strong host. He will rarely drive the show on days when it needs to be driven…which leads to…
3. It’s a caller-driven program. The same generally tired callers provide the same generally tired comments in the same generally tired format. For the most part, they just don’t add much to the show, and Paul doesn’t cut them off quickly enough when they’re clearly in a conversational quagmire.
His columns, once a staple of the sports talk community in Alabama, had become increasingly poorly-written and unabashedly affectionate toward Saban. They were clearly shallow and just what the average fan echoed to all his buddies over a PBR…not the least bit insightful.

I listen to the show everyday at work and I can say that I enjoy the same guys calling in everyday. I think it’s funny. And Paul’s sarcasm and dry humor goes great with most of the idiots that call in. I hope he gets well.

Finebaum is pretty smart. To have a gig where you “stir the pot” in the one of the most divided football states in the Southeast and make money off of it and do it for 4 hrs a day, thats pure genius. Well, I like Finebaum and I like Journey. God bless America, and f you if you like Arcade Fire or Coldplay or Donovan Frankfurter, or whatever the hell that fruit’s name is. There is no place on this blog for outright hatred of 80’s arena rock. I think gurn is a soccer playing troll sent to this blog to destroy it.
Finebaum’s show is like the front porch of the old general store, provided that store was in Gadsden, Alabama. The callers are hilarious, though not intentionally. Things went downhill when they kicked Vickers off, though.
