Never in a million years would I have imagined Huxley and college football in the same frame. But, seriously – are you saying that da U will continue its hold on Florida? Banish the thought.

I remember that game for one reason….during that UF-Miami game in the Swamp, I was unequivocally, unquestionably the drunkest I’ve ever been during a Gator game. Things looked great, what with DeShaun Winn ripping off that huge run and all of that. But in the final minutes, watching the game slip away, a predictable outcome that would become all too common during [REDACTED]’s tenure….I threw up under a huge tent at Calico Jack’s. Not the best day for a Gator fan.

Year 1 of the NAME REDACTED era, as I recall. Grossman running the option was hilarious.
The following year’s game had to especially painful to Florida fans.

The 2003 game stands out to me as [Name Redacted]’s most epic collapse. I knew then and there that his departure was only a matter of time.

Watched that game across the street from the stadium in a friend’s yard that became choked with obnoxious (is there any other type?) ‘Canes fans. Oh, where’d they go to school, you ask? UCF and USF.

9/6/03 was the night I learned there was no God, or at least that [REDACTED] was a very…very bad coach.

Oddsmakers have made UF an early 20pt favorite over Miami. Phil Steele said to lay the points as he thinks UF will roll over the Canes big.

Steele’s got this one right. Miami has no one to throw (obviously the gators’ biggest deficiency). And, after watching last year’s aTm-da U slap fight, I’d take Haley Lafontaine giving +11

That weekend was amazing in Gainesville.
I saw a blond redneck girl beat the heck out of some poor drunk freshman for standing near her car.
Plus the whole unclean campus the day after b/c the facilities people went on strike.
Go write the great American novel.

That’s pretty drunk when you suddenly teleport to the Orange Bowl one year in advance, then back for the tent at CJ’s. How can I get that drunk?

Let’s also not forget that in the last game ever in da OB, Miami layed down and let Virginia stomp them 48-0 in front of all the former players who came out. That’s the most serious indictment of a program I can think of.

So let me get this straight. You can grow up in So Fla, going to every single Canes home game, attending away games, bowl games, bleeding orange and green, but if you elect to save $200K in tuition and take advantage of the Bright Futures Scholarship by attending a public univ, you are no longer a Canes fan?
Wow, I guess UF students that have been watching coll football for 2 years now really are cooler than me.
Guess I’ll have to get my PhD at UM so I can call myself a Cane.

Why is my first post under 3 hours of moderation? Maybe I shouldve added that I blacked out after the 1st quarter of the Brock Berlin miracle, stuck my head in a lemonade cart due to the 400 deg weather(limonada at the OB), and went home with a Gator coed that night.

I don’t feel young anymore, but I was 5 the last time UF managed to beat the U. I understand that #7 in a row will be difficult to come by this september. Going up for my first trip to the swamp, in an RV full of obnoxious canes fans. And no, there are no other kind.

I’m gonna come to Buford, Georgia and go all War Eagle your Gator azz….
Kindest regards,

That was the FIRST Gator game I was drunk at. I really only have vague memories of the student section going nuts early… and then feeling like I wanted to die for many reasons in the second half. Only you’re being far too kind to say the game “slipped away” at the end.

…because Ingle Martin going down with a concussion and Miami still being Miami had nothing to do with it.

Yeah, that Zango video service that’s plastered all over the site is adware according to some major computer security experts and the FTC.
Don’t install any Zango crap, and Orson, if you can, see if you can get their ads off of your site.

My issue with the *Canes* fans is probably the same issue every UF/FSU fan has – they only showed up when da U started winning. If there are so many Canes fans, how come they couldn’t fill a stadium on their home turf? I guess they have to make up for it with being obnoxious. The one good thing about the change to Joe Robbie [other than the obvious safety isue] is that it will be EXTREMELY easy to get tickets for any future UF/Miami game played there. Undoubtedly there are UF fans who did not attend the school but they have supported the Gators through thick and thin….not thick and thick.

I live on the GA/FL border and nowadays I swear I see as many people wearing Gator apparel as I do UGA . My only question is, where were all these cats during the Galen Hall and Zook years? I guess the LEGIONS of true Gator fans celebrated their teams on the inside during those periods of mediocrity.

Um, you might not have noticed, but we were 5-7 last year. Thats about as thin as it gets in this state. And our attendence was normal, and we are still invading Canesville September the 6, obnoxious as ever. Our attendence sucks because its a small school with an off campus stadium. The real reason why UF/FSU fans hate us is because we own both of you and we dont let you forget about it.

Are you serious? Anybody that supports Miami right now cannot be called a bandwagon fan. I love Miami, and as painful as it is to say, we SUCKED last year. Miami had its frontrunners in the 80’s, but those guys have all moved on now.
I live in Central Florida and to act like the UF fanbase didnt blow up with their recent success is a freakin joke. The UF fanbase is just as bad as the Patriots new fans.

Worst college football nicknames for 2009:
University of Arizona — “Da A”
University of Washington — “Da W”
University of Oregon — “Da O”
Duke University — “Da D”
University of Virginia — “Da V”
Syracuse University — “Da S”
University of Tennessee — “Da T”
You get the idea? I know, it’s tough.
Utah wanted “Da U” but leave it to some World-Wide-Leading Jackass to claim it for Miami. Short for University, not Miami, one would suppose?
