The reality is that DickRod got the deer-in-the-headlights look very early in that game, and kept hoping that White/Slaton/Devine would bail him out with another miracle run, as almost happened with Devine’s kickoff return. Alas, Rod went right back to his same execrable play-calling, finishing up the night with an off-tackle run by Slaton on 4th-and-3 that got 1 1/2 yds.

That’s reality. That won’t happen next year.

i dont think you can lump wvu in with the rest of the big east when talking about speed, individual or team. all of wvu’s players are fast – in fact, loadholt and other members of the “best offensive line in the country” are still grasping into thin air after our defensive ends blew past them to sack or hurry bradford.

listen – wvu is one of the fastest teams in the country, filled with some of the fastest players in the country. i have always loved auburn and can’t wait for the game – it should be fantastic – but to say auburn is gonna smoke wvu, at home, in a night game, because wvu hasnt played teams with speed (georgia, oklahoma, south florida, etc.) is just foolish.

besides, if you argument rests on the fact that auburn is fast and they stopped tebow, then you haven’t yet seen speed.

Transitivity is a poor test usually, but in this case it’s all we’ve got — and last year Auburn lost to a Mississippi State team that got smoked by WVU to the tune of 25 points. In case you’ve forgotten, Patrick White went to the house on the first play from scrimmage.

The Oklahoma defense thought they matched up well against WVU too, but events proved otherwise.

By all means, though, feel free to come up to Morgantown next year thinking that the BE isn’t a competetive league and that Auburn’s speed will be something the ‘Eers have never dealt with. We welcome you.
