You know it is great to hear some respect to the huskers though, we have certainly not earned it lately. I live on the eastern seaboard all I hear is about how all mizzou fans are (welll fill in anyblanks with all kinds of expressions). And for once i get to see Mizzou fans speak with respect, as i respect the new coming of mizzou as a national contender. All in all, I hate horrible fan bases and its refreshing to know that ignorance isnt as properous in your fan base as i have herd from others, DONT BE CU!

Don't think that Nebraska players and fans won't remember the image of the Mizery fans with the giant salt-and-wound cardboard cutouts.

Also, we'll have to see how much better Nebraska's defense plays when they don't have the backup MLB playing nose-guard in some junk-ass 3-3-5.

Missouri's rivals may be Illinois and Kansas, but any KU fan who considers the Mizery-Texas game to be more important and more relevant than Mizery-Nebraska must be delusional from the flooding.

If they play football like they do the Fulmer Cup, they better watch out for a team to mount a 2nd half comeback and steal the game after scoring big in the 1st half.

Don't just sit there gawking at that kid. Someone get him a glass of Chivas already! Jeez.

Based on Missouri's strong showing in last year's Fulmer cup, I would recommend buffett's "Son of a sailor" since there is something in the song about staying one step ahead of the jailor.

Well said, ChiTiger. This is your best chance to win in Lincoln in a long time. I've come to know the pain of long losing streaks in particular away towns. The 'Huskers haven't won in Lawrence, KS since '03, Columbia, MO since '01, Norman, OK since I don't care to look up when, Stillwater, OK since some time in the '90s.

Hopefully our secondary has improved or, no, the MU vs. UT game will not be fun to watch. Our last game against A&M was painful.

China? Really? Missouri is hardly an ancient football empire with endless history and responsibility for many of the game's great inventions.

I think a better comparison might be Venezuela. Led by a none-too-bright commander into relevance of the saber-rattling variety in very recent years....but the locals only care if things are interesting. Otherwise, it's back to baseball.

I hadn't heard that. Good to know UT didn't miss that one, in any case. Daniel is talented and you have to admire his spunk and leadership ability.

Iit is nice to see a player with integrity. There are actually many of them out there, but unfortunately, we only hear about the bad apples.

Those bad apples are entertaining, though. I've wasted an entire day reading about JJ. He was a good excuse not to finish a web site for a client.

Pretty...pretty...good column Rock M. One observation from a fellow Mizzou fan: 'Huskers.

The 'Nubs will love this, but I must feed their pride and write it anyway. Our most important game this year is in Lincoln. I believe we leave St. Louis with a hard earned but not-so-close victory over [Name Redacted] and whatever RB he is currently milking for yardage under his stupifying spell. Bottom line: we need that win in Lincoln waaaaay more than that win in Austin.

Points of support:

1. This game is played within our division (more important for record and rivalry).
2. Missouri hasn't won in Lincoln, a team in its division, since 1978 (ouch, hurts to type)
3. Missouri is expected to win it this year, while a loss on the road to a strong Texas team (assuming they're strong at that point) is just not as damaging.

These three points will make for a hyped up Missouri team, which will meet an imporoved and ANGRY (revenge angry) Huskers squad. So, my opinion is that while the Texas game will be pretty and fun to watch, the Nebraska game will be vicious, brutal (see last year: Brown, Pig vs. Purify, Maurice), and full of desperation on the part of at least one team.
Therefore, if I'm not a Missouri fan, do I want to watch Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (MU vs. Texas, pretty, fairly bloodless) or 300 (MU vs. Nebraska, gore!)? I say, give them 300 and the blood and strange violence that comes with it.

Blon 57 - it was my understanding that after RP backed off and committed to LSU, UT did try to recruit Chase (after he had already made an oral commitment to Mizzou). But, he said a commitment was a commitment and wouldn't waiver on going to Mizzou. Sounds like a kid with alot of integrity. After what has happened in the past two days, it's kinda refreshing.

<i>"If Mizzou takes care of business in St. Louis, exorcises demons in Lincoln against Nebraska, and avoids a home trap against OSU, the Tigers will be heading to Austin for their marquee matchup of the season."</i>

Even if they don't beat Illinois, Nebraska, and Okie St., they'll still be heading into Ausin for their marquee matchup of the season, right?

# 3, Don't overlook Joe Ganz at Nebraska. I know Nebraska has sucked the last few years, but in the last several games of last season he threw for damn near 1,000 yards and a bunch of touchdowns. Sure, Nebraska has a new head coach, but the offensive coordinator and scheme are the same. Plus, Bo Pelini will surely improve the defense, which will in turn help the offense.

Conversely, they might just suck again, we'll see.

My understanding is that Daniel was not recruited by any of the larger programs in this state due to his size, or what they considered lack-there-of. So, too, Todd Reesing. Obviously, some programs are wondering how they missed those two.

Overall, Missouri doesn't get the top players from Texas...yet. They still tend to go to other big name programs around the country, UT, (unfortunately) OU, A&M, etc.
