Not a bad idea, except for the Harbaugh thing.

I’m not sure that Dodd’s column really counts as a major award and the tOSU or Penn State linebacker coaches would be equally worthy as Norton based on the guys they have turned out in recent years. I’m certainly biased by seeing Norton in action.

Why don’t we just give the entire USC coaching staff all the top awards?

Jim Harbaugh would probably have to get some kind of award then, too.

When I was having my recent fun up at USC Pat Ruel was the coach who hung around and socialized with the guys the most. It seemed like he was around at most of the meals and he even went down to Papadakis taverna. He just came across as a friendly, cool guy. But he could turn on the intensity too. I screwed up my footwork on an OL drill and saw that other side of him. I was pretty sure given the circumstances that he wasn’t going to actually take a swing at me, but he got me rattled.

I’d say McNair was the coach I bonded with the most but Ruel would get the overall “Mr Congeniality” award for the USC staff

And Dodd should pick Ken Norton Jr. as the best linebacker coach because he is one bad muthafucka. Sure guys like Maualuga, Rivers and Cushing come into the program with talent, but he turns them into what they become.
