I think the discrepancy could have something to do with year round youth leagues and training as well. in the late 90s when i was in hs in florida my grandparents lived in indiana and i stayed with them one summer going to football and baseball camps all summer to stay out of their hair. I remember talking to the other guys up there who were from indiana, ohio and illinois and they were blown away that we had winter baseball and spring/winter football down in florida. i mean we have 4-6 week “spring” football seasons starting in feb.

Two knocks against the B10 or one of its schools in one post. Interesting that you singled them out so much.

Why the hate, brah? You’d think with the WWL, CBS and everyone else down on the B10 that it was enough to make you fight “the man” and sign the B10’s praises.

Guess I’ll have to go somewhere else to get my rage against the machine CFB coverage.

WVU ran daul-QBs in their undefeated season in 1993, before getting crushed by Florida in the sugar bowl… Jake Kelchner and Darrell Studstill… They were both on the same field in various sets that season

It might be a little unfair for you to show a pic of downtown Lubbock. I’ll be the first to admit that downtown is a wasteland, but I think if you come to Lbk this fall for Tech/UT you might be impressed by new construction that has been going on around campus.

And yes, Lubbock is still dry, but you don’t have to leave the county, just the city limits.

I think it has only recently received acknowledgement outside the South, but the SEC has been arguably the strongest conference for a long time. It’s even clearer in the decade rankings.

If you adjust for the site inexplicably crediting the Big 8 for the accomplishments of then SWC schools, the SEC is the top rated conference in six of the eight decades of the modern era. The conference finishes second to the Big Ten in the 1940’s, and second to the Big 8 in the 1970’s (assuming the SWC Texas schools did not account for the entire margin between 1st and 2nd).
