I get that Sports Night was not about sports, duh, and the dialogue was witty in that standard Sorkin vein, but the mistakes they would make regarding schools and leagues, and of course the episode that was “centered” on some kid out of nowhere winning the long jump contest over somebody from some racially oppressed country, were inexcusable.

Because, seriously, who covers track & field more than once every four years, unless you are Court TV?

Glad I have not seen that dork who dated the porn star, and replaced Rob Lowe on WW, in a while.

How can we have this many comments about a SportsNight episode without anyone mentioning how Danny overcame his writer’s block? He was trying to bang some beach volleyball player he met at the Flaming Dog while wearing something blue!!! C’mon people!!!

Great article. I especially loved this…During his coaching career Lou Holtz famously put four schools (including Arkansas and South Carolina) on probation, and yet last year released a book about ethical leadership.

Brings back memories of the good ‘ol Southwest Conference. Looking back, I fondly remember looking at the sports page daily wondering who was giving away cars, cash, etc.
