FULMER CUPDATE: PENDING

Class is in session. (HT: BlockU.)

The E'ers are pulling e'er closer to Missouri in the Fulmer Cup, something we'll summarize in a Fulmer Cupdate as soon as we get in touch with Boardmeister Brian, who is hung like Reggie F'n Nelson.

In the meantime...JoePa's teaching media relations, and you know what that means. No, not detailed discussions of the possible effects the telegraph could have on coverage, and how William Randolph Hearst's massive media empire is poised to take advantage of it like no other robber baron can!

No, it means this reality altering concept: JoePa, the metamedia lecturer.

"It's impossible to tell the difference between a good blogger and a bad blogger," he said. "The media has to figure out a way to teach students about the impact of blogging on legitimate journalism."

It makes fun of it for the most part, Joe. It also gives an opportunity to use profanity and photoshop, and to put down all the thoughts someone else might not be able to fit in an 800 word column or bland game summary. Outside of that, there's not much else to it, Joe, and need not be anything more than that.

Oh, and sodomy jokes. Those are crucial, too.

However, should JoePa fall down, he would be unable to get back up. Unless, of course, he’s equipped with Life Alert.

He started coaching at Penn State in 1966???? That was the year I was born.

Damn, he is old.

JoePa poops his pants.

I thought JoPa’s only comment was that “the only good blogger is a dead blogger”.

Or was that Woody Hayes?

As much as it ashames me, looks like Marshall’s making its way onto the board for the ever popular FnDC…

“He started coaching at Penn State in 1966???? That was the year I was born.”

No, he started coaching at Penn State in 1950. He became head coach in 1966.

No, #4, Woody Hayes comment was “Only three things can happen when you blog, and two of them are bad”
And Orson, you left out the tons and tons of obscure pop-culture references.

“..the impact of blogging on legitimate journalism.”

On LEGITIMATE journalism.

Who / what determines what constitutes legitimate?
The NY Times? nope
FOXnews? lawya please.

At least I know when Orson’s referencing a rumor because he leads off the entry with something along the lines of…“this is from a totally unsubstantiated internet rumor / gossip / messageboard I heard about third-hand while jacked up on Tussin in a cheesy off-strip Vegas sports book early this morning, but I’m gonna go ahead and run with it…”

I might be the only reader of this here fine blog who attended a PSU game with JoePa as an assistant. I was at tOSU – PSU game in Columbus in 1964, which we lost 27-0 to a Rip Engle coached PSU. I was 7 years old, but remember it even today. Can’t say the same for JoePa though.

#12: September 16, 1978…#5 PSU 19…#6 OSU 0 (in Columbus…our last win there, unfortunately)

Woody Hayes had a great line a few months after that game speaking to a PSU football awards event…“Your [Penn State’s] defense has us looking like the Rockettes in that game…one, two, three, KICK!”

The 1978 game referenced was Art Schlichter’s first game as a freshman. JoePa was HC then. I was there for that game too. Speaking of Art, I’m glad Orson doesn’t have the alumni Fulmer Cup. With Schlichter, Clarett and Alonzo Spellman leading the miscreant alums, I’m afraid we would only be passed by WfV with Pacman and Chris Henry.
