Our Bear, who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Championship come.
Thy will be done,
in Tuscaloosa as it was in Birmingham.
Give us this week our weekly win,
And forgive us our penalties,
As we forgive those who penalize against us.
And lead us not into probation;
But deliver us from the NCAA.
For thine is the Program, and the power, and the glory,
Forever.
Amen.

Bamaleg says:
As an informal and admittedly unscientific observation, I would note that before the arrival of Nick Saban to the friendly confines of Tuscaloosa County, Alabama’s mentions within the esteemed pages (figuratively speaking) of EDSBS were few and far between. The only references that readily come to mind are the week after the 2005 game with Florida (an event handled with noteworthy objectivity by the purveyors of these fan friendly submissions) and the events surrounding the departure of the well thought of, but not missed at all, Mike Shula. It is now my impression the mentions have increased significantly and with a clear indication there is an expectation the Tide will be returning to its rightful place among college football’s elite. Yes, we do think it’s a birth right. If you had matured during the pantheon days of the 70’s, you would think so as well.
Be that as it may, as I reflect upon the foregoing and look to the future, I must admit these days are all the more entertaining by virtue of the inordinate amount of quality competition within the storied old SEC. Dominating the seventies was fun and I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. But as one approaches the fall of one’s existance, the possibility (probablity?) of the unexpected (one need only review college football – 2007) provides renewed reason to follow along. Let us salute these halcyon days and revel in their fruit. While we still have many miles to go before we sleep, let us at least recognize that the winds of change at last blow in a favorable direction and our return to the much beloved shores of home is but a short time away.
For those whose blood does not flow in Crimson, relish your loyalties no matter where they lie. We do not scorn a competitor, we hunger for the competition. Would that we be worthy of mention and consideration, though such may be in a form foreign to our hearts. For surely it is better that a worthy foe mention one’s name with disdain, than forego any recognition for lack of concern.
ROLL TIDE!!!!!!

If the unexpected becomes a probablity, rather than a possibility, does that not make it the expected? Perhaps a theme for another day….

I love… LOVE… confident Clempson fans… even if we weren’t kicking off with them, it’s always fun to watch as Great Expectations become a witch hunt for Tommy’s head, right before he pulls two games he shouldn’t out of his a$$ and saves his job for just one more season.
Which is not to say Alabama will win that opening game. It’s just fun watching Auburn with a Lake fans completely forget the last 7 or 8 years like they never happened.

Let me see….Bama with & without Nicky is now about 0 & 12 against LSLose and the Barners…you Bammers are pathetic in your yearning for “new” glory days and Saban as your savior. Give me a break…the SEC is a tad different since Bear could recruit and buy 200 new players a year.
