It’s the whole first hour—we’re first up about three minutes in.

Sixteen Stone? Really, Finebaum?

I thought about the blog vs. “real” journalism this morning as I watched MSNBC. Mike Barnacle is one of the political talking heads on the network. Barnacle has always provided great insight but how do we reconcile the Barnacles, Jason Blairs, etc. of the world, who are supposedly “real” journalists. These “journalists” worked for some of the most well-respected papers in the country.

Nice work, I was pleasantly surprised that he pretty much let you speak without interrupting. Also highly amusing is listening to the next caller…back to normal on the finebaum show.

Finebaum seems to take the “Oooh, how does this whole blogg-ish thing work” approach. Welcome to the 21st Century, sir.

Orson, you were tremendous, but the caller immediately afterward is sheer brilliance. Sheer effing brilliance.

O-
Thanks for not being apologetic through this whole eyebrow raising experience of the main stream media recently discovering blogs. The mainstream is shocked, SHOCKED that people find their news from other places.

I think you really hit the nail on the head when you stated blogs are the 2nd tier of news. When I explain to people what EDSBS is, I always (rather lamely) explain that it’s like TMZ, The Onion and a Football all spent a drunken weekend on a boat, and EDSBS is their bastard child.

Most casual sports fan doesn’t care that their team is listed on the Fulmer Cup because they are only concerned with what happens on the field. Others of us see what happens on the field as merely the instanity of the previous 6 days coming to fruition. It’s the 6(ish) days that there isn’t football, that is equally as interesting.

EDSBS is the cigarette we smoke between needles of heroin.

In regards to the caller after O.. wtf is wrong w/ Alabamans who drunk dial radio hosts? That’s brilliant radio, right there.

Nice job O! I really hate to hear that you think Auburn is going to be really really good this year!!!

@decemberist
Finebaum knows what a blog is, but he’s asking that question for the listeners—some probably don’t know what the Interweb is.

I was intrigued by the discussion over greater transparency in blogging. There are certain benefits to it. It was a very interesting interview. As was the interview with Richard Scott later in the show.

Haha, the Google ads are great. “‘My Blog Makes Me $600 a Month…and I’m Just a Regular Guy!’”

Orson, you need a good ol’ country boy whuppin’.

O- just for a minute I was upset that, while you gave Todd and Nico their propers, you shorted the rest of us Alabama related bloggers, then I remembered that a large margin of the listeners and callers to that show are illiterate anyway, so it really didn’t matter. Good job by the way – even with the ahs and ums your were exponentially more understandable than Pat Dye.

Finebaum’s show does have something going for it – Yankees who hear it are reassured that their stereotypes of Alabama are accurate. It’s the only thing that keeps this wonderful state from turning into Florida.
