CLOSING QUARTER: THE EDSBS/FANBLOGS CHARITY BOWL
The final bell approaches. We'll do anything for money...but we'll do nutsoid anything for money for a good cause. There's time yet to ding another school's total, by giving to one of our fine charities in the name of disaster relief. You have until 8 p.m. tonight.

Ooooh, FSU tossed another greasy $20 on their total. Certainly to have come out of the register at Chubby’s Chicken.

USC would like to contribute, but only good causes that also run a 4.3 are considered worthy of charity.

Hey! First and foremost, that FSU money came from Guthrie’s and you know it.
Another quick update: $15,922 donated by 175 people so far.

“NOTABLE RIVALRIES:

Interestingly, that disparity in donation is also about the consolidated score for the last 4 or so games between those two programs in football. How appropriate.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WHY HAS NO ONE DINGED MICHIGAN!!!
Come on UT fans… Charles Woodson…

Go Blue! This is amazing. $13,000 raised by obsessive CFB fans. You should do this every year.
Case Western’s mascot is the Spartan. The guy(s) donated $300. Haha.

You would think Peyton Manning would be in for a cool $1MM to reduce Michigan’s total.
Not that anyone outside the great state of South Carolina considers it notable, but could you add the South Caroina-Clemson numbers under notable rivalry? I’m just curious as to what Coop’s donation (or lack thereof) is at right now.
Hit up your boy, Kenneth Page and his rich uncle. You can count Ray Ray off your list of hopeful donors.

Based on quick math – there is more financial hatred of Ohio State than there is love for SoCal, UCLA, UGA, and A&M combined. Nice.
by Out of Conference on May 14, 2008 5:26 PM EDT reply actions
I don’t think that total would be near as high if it weren’t for TAFKAtOSU or whatever.
Of course, it could mean that Michigan donated that much more, but used some of it to ding tOSU.

There is $170 worth of angry Michigan fan out there eh? Not one negative ding on UM by a Buckeye fan? Well I guess the rivalry is probably getting lopsided on the angry side now, I wonder why?

We’re at about $18,500 with roughly 1 hour to go. What do you say? Let’s push this baby to $20K!!!!!!

Arizona supports terrorism and the killing of puppies, but I’ve been saying that for years. Other interesting superlatives from America’s colon:
They have the lowest APR score of any BCS conference school, dating back to the inception of the rankings.
They have not won an outright conference title since 1941. (Border Conference)
They have never had a quarterback drafted to the NFL.
Mike Stoops is their football coach and this just in, he just lost another game.
And listen carefully, because this one’s good: They are the only Big 10 or Pac-10 school that has never been to a Rose Bowl.
by Big Jon on May 14, 2008 7:58 PM EDT reply actions
Hey Orson, shouldn’t this be renamed “BCS Championship Charity Game”? It just kinda seems fitting with OSU finishing in second again.
Good job all.

But this is of course followed by a most unfamiliar feeling of Ohio State beating not just one, but every single SEC team.

Just another example, as if the National Championship Trophies (18 combined), Heisman Trophy Winners (11 combined), All-Americans (too many to count), First Round Draft Picks (too many to count), the 10 Year War between Woody and Bo, Script Ohio, Most All-Time Wins, The Best Damn Band in the Land, the best Helmets, and the list just goes on and on bitches, of why THE Ohio State University vs. Michigan is the greatest Rivalry in all of sports.
However, rivalry smack aside, to drum up $20K in a couple of days to support some worthy causes is just awesome on all counts, regardless of who gave what.

Where is Notre Dame??
Never mind, they fell off the College Football map years ago…this is just further proof.
It is shocking though…that is a large Alumni base, most of which have the money to pony up for a good cause such as this.
by TAFKastOSUB on May 15, 2008 9:16 AM EDT reply actions
“Where is Notre Dame??”
Notre Dame COULD donate to a bunch of thugs like everyone else, but Charlie Weis just won’t do it that way.
Besides, Notre Dame people already know they’re better than everyone else, so why should they donate their God-given money to the lesser beings?
