TUNE THE PIANO, SONGSMITHS

You, too, may be the next Louis Elbel: the University of Washington is seeking a new fight song and is holding an open contest for submissions. Off the top of head, the first song coming to mind when thinking of Willingham's repeated references to his "system" is, well, this, because ever since his first year at Notre Dame the "system" has been most definitely down:

It would have to go with some nice Fenerbahce-stand-hopping, of course, but we think it would be perfect, especially with a lyric sheet reading "buh-DOO-do-DOO-do-DEH" over and over again.

I can’t even see this since video is blocked but I’m still calling it a blatant attempt to use a lame post in order to bury the Florida story below.

Nice try…

New song for Washington, the school that fostered young Jerramy Stevens? It needs to have a local feel. Perhaps some Nirvana? How would the marching band arrangement of “Rape Me” sound?

Matt @ 2: John Bucchigross would give you a chicken dinner. I don’t have a vote, but I say you get cocktails.

Sacrilege! What Washington’s fight song lacked in quality was more than made up for in its title: “Bow down to Washington”. I defy you to find a more kick ass title to a fight song.

This was my ringtone in college. The whole thing.

Can’t they just use the school song from “Saved by the Bell,” but put in “Huskies” for “Bayside?”

For lyrics:

From sideline to sideline

We don’t roam

We are the Huskies

Fight on, Tyrone

Fight on to victory

In this game

Just like you did

At ole Notre Dame

Bama scores again in the Fulmer Cup. It’s all part of the process, and the AU controlled TPD.

Come on, their new fight song has to be Brass Bonanza.

Holly – you had a cell phone in college? When I was in college, cell phones were cellular phones that came in a bag that you unzipped and took out the corded phone to make a call. Brick phones were fancy-smancy.

@8:

Holy shit, that’s the first thing I thought of when I saw this post.

Just don’t let Zack sing it. They put lemon juice in his drink. Avivvy voo, Avivvy voo.

It seems like only yesterday we started…

Anything Willingham related should be accompanied by “Yakkety Sax.”

Dear Husky Fans,

We’d apologize, but we feel there were significant warnings given. Enjoy!

Sincerely,
Domers

Get real Huskies. Plagarize from M*A*S*H.

“Suicide Is Painless” is your best choice. And pretty hip with all that Alan Alda sensitive guy stuff, which we SEC guys know you Kaffee Klatschers adore.

Okay, so clearly a Fredo fan made it, but I still chuckled.

I don’t know how to make it clicky-pop.

The only song that seems to fit is “The Impossible Dream”.

If anyone missed Strong Bad emails somewhere along the line, the song comes from here.

I also had a cell phone in high school; they’ve been around for a while. The old brickphones originally came out in 1984, a year before I was born, and I’ve got a master’s degree, y’all.

I always liked Washington’s fight song, personally. I have a soft spot for old college fight songs that reference things like “crossing the Dardanelles” and such.

Then again, I guess most people would too if they knew what the Dardanelles were.
