Of course you have no particular feeling about their football program. They have beaten you once since the Taft administration.

I’m pretty sure they’ve only beaten us like four times in that same timespan. In a way it’s great having them as a rival, because they always think they’re going to be great, then suck. And lose to Clemson. You know how Florida State can’t beat you right now? It’s like that, except all the time.

You can get off your “high Clemson horse.”

Anyone from South Carolina has family, friends, etc. that went to either SC or Clemson. I can hate Clemson on the days they play SC and I can even pull against them against everyone else, but I don’t hate people that pull for Clemson. My uncle, co-workers, etc. are Clemson fans.

To think that Clemson is “better” is ridiculous. You can have your rankings, etc. but your argument appears to be centered on your pure, unadulterated hate for everything USC.

Coop – not everyone makes a living by liking to argue. Some of us actually learn a skill and use that knowledge to better ourselves and world.

As a chem eng grad from USC, I certainly can’t concede that Clemson is better for chemicals and numbers. Not to say that Clemson is not a fantastic engineering school, but Clemson’s chemical engineering isn’t heads and shoulders above South Carolina’s at all.

I’m a Starksville/MSU guy who does biz in Cola and dates an old family/Forest Acres local. Due to family connections, I love Clempson next to my Dawgs. Many happy days at Lester’s Tiger Den.

as for Clem BOT, Nicky will lose to Rodney. Walter Dantzler agrees from his reaction when I met him Sat at the ACCs.

It is harder to be a SC Supreme Ct judge than to be a Clem BOT. I think Walter is 1 of the 4 lifetime.

It’s about time that an ag skool gets the better funding. GVL/SPT have led the state the last 50 years.

The Chix are a joke skool. Clemmons deserves it, then the Collitch of Knowitch in Charleston.

Wow. That Mordor image really takes me back. I never got into the books when I was a kid back in the ’70s, but my older brothers did (and later went to Tech, which is about right). I did, however, find the Hildebrandt calendar illustrations quite fascinating.

For the record, like many state flagship universities, South Carolina is forced to take a high % of shitty in-state students. About 13% more than Clemson does. USC’s 5-year attrition rates are about 35%. These students never leave Columbia with a degree.

Also, you receive less state money because you have fewer students, you have fewer departments, and you charge a higher tuition. You also don’t have the amount of university-state government partnerships that we do, being next door to the capitol building, that bring in state dollars.

I’ll concede that academically, Clemson does “it’s thing” better than Carolina does “it’s thing,” and thus gets better rankings – but it’s still apples and oranges. If you want to work with numbers, chemicals, or cow manure, then Clemson is your place. Nobody’s trying to take that away from ya, coop.
