ATL sucks as a PRO sports town, and that's because so few that live in ATL are from ATL, or even GA (look at this board for proof). Braves games are full of Mets, Cubs, Red Sox, etc. fans not because the Braves don't have support, but because all those yankee types (this includes a large portion of the Floridian ATL population) now live here. Unfortunately, they never seem to leave despite constant pissing and moaning about how they do things in wherever. But as has been pointed out, CFB is king in this state (and on this board). Amen.

Atlanta's percentage of autos adorned with college (mostly) and pro sports teams has got to be Top 5 in the country.

And I'm not talking about just leghumper u fans either. SEC, ACC, NE pro teams, Braves, even the occasional Hawks-Thrashers-Falcons sticker.

It's at least one indicator that many folks around these parts are passionate enough to proudly display their team allegiance. The people are there but the pro product has been consistently poor. Asking to pay dearly for and choke down a shit sandwich year after year gets old after awhile and I can't blame them.

Who cares about any sports calculation that leaves out College Football?

The "crush your enemies" quote is the gold standard from Conan, but I still get a smile from "At first we thought they were just another snake cult".

Les Miles @ 5:

Oh, good. Thanks. I didn't remember seeing it, and although I haven't missed too many entries over the last two years, that one got by me. If it hadn't been covered, I figured that it should be brought to the attention of the proper authorities immediately.

It's funny how the yankees always complain about the south's professional sports, but they never complain about the women and weather.
You make the decision, Would you like to sit in Gillete Stadium on a day with -10 windchill with a flabby, pasty Boston chick or party in Sanford on a sunny fall day with a beautiful Georgia girl. Tough call.

At least Atlanta has owners unlike our Bobcat Johnson who blame the fans for his losing $$$ on a crappy NBA team. Whatta jerk.

www.charlotte.com/140/story/581387.html

And on top of it, his GM, His Majesty Michael Jordan, demands "appearance" money to attend games.

So Atlanta's a good sports town for being close to real sports towns? That's a stretch, at best.

But Miami is the worst. Atlanta's a very close second.

I would think Seattle or Cleveland would trump Atlanta easily in the misery department. The Braves won how many division titles in a row?

The "miserable" part is really a futility measure, and I'm not sure how much Atlanta improves if you add the Yellow Jackets' title game loss a couple years ago, the GT's Chantastic era, and UGA's streak of losing nearly every year to Florida for the last 18 seasons (especially when you look at 2002).

It's not saying Atlanta has the worst fans or worst sports atmosphere (Miami wins that one going away), but rather the fans have experienced the most misery as caused by the local sports teams.

I completely disagree. Clearly, the best Conan quote is as follows:

Lackey: "Conan, what is good in life?"
Conan: "To crush your enemies, drive them before you, and to hear the lamentations of the women.

Gold, baby! PURE GOLD!
