AUBURN’S NEW OFFENSE=THROWGASMTASTIC
It’s got to make Pat Dye fall out of his chair and spill his drink to watch all those passes wobbling in the air: Auburn’s new offense is passgasmtastic, friends, and it’s not afraid to tell the show it…albeit in a vanilla, spring game kind of way.

i was at the spring game on saturday…although i may have been too hungover to give any sort of insightful commentary, it was quiet strange to see all them crazy forward passes zippin’ round the field. i don’t know if our poor minds will be able to take the possibility of 50 pass attempts or more per game.
also i would like to note that new JC transfer QB,Chris Tood is another fine addition to white rag armed QBs taking up scholarships in the SEC. just go with Kodi CTT. we Auburn fans have no time for the Junior College bullshit.

Wow. That’s some inept passing. Umm…War Damn Eagle?
Don’t worry Auburn fans, we at Nebraska went through a similar thing a few years back when we switched from a smashmouth style to a pass heavy offense, and look how well that worked out for us: four years of inept football with one measly division title (in a pretty crummy division) to show for it. So, I guess what I’m saying is, if you don’t lose 70-10 to whatever the Texas Tech analog is on your schedule, you’ve been more successful through this transition than we were.

OMG, were they playing Usher’s “Yeah!” in the background? A song that has lyrics such as “She was all up on me screaming yeah” and “hold the head steady, I’m a milk the cow”? There were children at that game! Despicable!
Sorry, as someone who attended last year’s Georgia-Auburn game, I wanted to see what it felt like to be an Auburn fan pissing my pants with righteous indignation over the music somebody plays in their stadium. It wasn’t actually that much fun.

Chris Todd has some kind of bullshit shoulder injury that we thought was healed when we gave him a scholarship. Apparently we were wrong. He’s been lame all spring. When I found out we were switching to this offense I immediately thought of Nebraska and shit my pants. The best thing about the Tony Franklin system is that 1/2 the high schools in the country run it. Unfortunately, that is also the worst thing about the Tony Franklin system.

Todd’s bullshit shoulder injury equals some bullshit QBing. if this guy ends up the starter you can go ahead and check 8-4 and another trip to the Peach Bowl down.
as far as the Nebraska thing goes, a thought it was their shitty defense that kept them from winning last year. their offense was dropping 40 and 50 points on people while the d was giving up 70.

The difference between AU and Nebraska – we still have a defensive Head Coach, and we got rid of Wonderboy Muschamp, who wonders how to stop UGA.
We tried to hire Kevin Cosgrove to be AU’s offensive coordinator. His reputation amongst offensive coordinators in the Big-12 was outstanding.

…..Thanks for showing some of the first half. CSS didn’t show but the second half, Saturday night. Looks like the QB’s didn’t do so well with pressure on them. And that’s 4-man rush pressure, no blitz. Uh-oh.
…..Todd looks like he’s faster with his reads than the others, but if he doesn’t get any better in the arm, he’ll be another Brandon Cox we have to break in. The other three looked far too eager to take off and run, on third and long. Low, low percentage play…

Also, I was at the A-Day game Saturday as well. A little hungover like #1, and only stayed until halftime (the weather forecast was 70, cloudy, and rainy…it was at least 120 I’m fairly certain, and sunny with nary a breeze). I thought the offense looked pretty good at times, but it’s still got alot of work to do. Kodi Burns threw a pretty pass on about a 30-yard touchdown post route. A pass more than ten yards down the field? Haven’t seen it since at least 2005. Tommy Trott (TE, #5) is gonna be special this year.
It should be a typical Auburn year under CTT…beat someone we’re not supposed to, lose to someone we’re not supposed to, probably win 8-10 games.

I’m not sure that these qualify as “highlights.” I was there and the offense actually looked good, albeit against a base 4-3 cover 2 the whole time. So while you shouldn’t put any stock in what you see during a spring game anyway, I would especially advise you against drawing any conclusions based on this video alone. Ah, what the hell, it’s the internet right? We’ll be lucky to average 7 pts. a game next year.

I believe it was in 2002 that Tubs beat UGA and said that the “new” Coach Richt would benefit by running the ball, because that is how you win in the SEC. Richt seems to have got that part down. Is Tubs being forgetful or does he not believe in running the ball anymore?
Or is this just a spring game so who gives a shit?

Well yeah, last year. But in 04, the year of the switch, the offensive was turning the ball over like it was their job. I think by years end Joe Daily wasn’t even bothering to check if it was a Nebraska guy he was throwing to; he’d thrown so many interceptions at that point, he probably figured he may as well just throw to the first open guy he saw and hope for the best. And why not: it worked for Brett Favre for years.
For the record, I doubt Auburn’s headed for a losing season. It just reminded me so much of that first Callahan spring game, I had to comment.

#17 — It was actually after the 2001 game, in which Richt called that fateful (read unsuccessful) Jasper Sanks run at the goal line on the last play of the game with no timeouts left.
Oddly enough, it was only two years later that Tubbs, with two future NFL first-rounders in his backfield, gave RB and Cadillac only four rushes in the entire first half and lost 26-7 in Athens. So it’s possible he forgot that lesson years ago.

I really hate to rain on everybody’s hate parade here, but:
1.) Those aren’t “highlights”. Those are all the plays from the beginning of the scrimmage to about 2/3rds of the way into the first quarter. The offense started running a lot smoother as the scrimmage went on. If someone did just highlights, the O could have been made to look great, in which case everyone here would be laughing at the new DC.
2.) Auburn’s offense is not going to be “pass happy”. The scrimmage was “pass happy” because that’s what needs the most work and because we had a couple of RBs dinged up. You will see a very balanced offense come this fall.

By focusing on the passing game, AU will allow the RB and FB a chance to get in on more chop blocks!
BTW, most of Spring was focused on the passing game because we had one healthy scholarship RB and everyone knows what Lester can do (insert plagiarism joke here).
