Brian – no parabolas with this, but the angle of a straight shot just over the Green Monster is just over 7�. Over the Coliseum Net is just over 16�. If a ball is hit with velocity like Justin Smoak’s bomb at Clemson at few weeks ago, it leaves the Coliseum and lands in Fenway after it’s fourth orbit a few hours later.

199 feet is one shy of a typical regulation Little League field. 11 year olds can hit homers in them. We used to go to Little League parks when we were in college just play home run derby, and stationed a couple ball shaggers on the other side of the wall. None of us were even college level baseball players, just frat guys goofing off. This isn’t all that impressive. I’m surprised some of their athletic younger coaches just a few years removed from playing can’t hit Little League homers off of BP pitching with metal bats.

MassDad @ 7 – thank for removing the wool that has been pulled over my eyes. Here I was thinking that Pete Carroll was an okay coach because of the 76 – 14 record, but now I recognize that he could have been outhit by you in a softball game at some point in the last 10 – 15 years, it’s all for naught.

Mind you, if you’d offered him a game while he was coaching the Patriots, I’m sure he’d have appreciated the change of pace.
