FULMER CUP CATCHUP: COLD-BLOODED RAZORBACKS
The last person we can remember being arrested for false imprisonment was Rick James, so the soundtrack for this is a true barn-burner: Rick James and Tina Marie live at the BET awards singing “Fire and Ice,” which Rick wrote about methamphetamines and fire, two of his favorite things.
We’re catching up, but it bears mention for the spectacular score racked up in a single offense by Arkansas junior linebacker Freddie Fairchild, arrested on Monday for third degree battery and second degree false imprisonment in a domestic incident with his girlfriend.
The victim, said to be Fairchild’s girlfriend in a police report, told police that Fairchild physically attacked her causing injuries to her head, face, arms, legs and pelvis, according to an arrest report. She said after the attack he did not allow her to leave the house for several hours.
Fairchild is assessed seven points total: three for each felony count, and one for reminding us of Rick James, something that will always earn you bonus points in the Fulmer Cup. Petrino has suspended Fairchild pending the legal process’ results, which in Petrino-ese means Fairchild will not be suspended, and that the coach just got done with a very promising interview with the University of Washington regarding their head-coaching position.

And that’s why he did it. Sounds legit.

Since this happened in Arkansas, woman beating and imprisonment when used to put your uppity woman in her place are considered misdemeanors not felonies.

The 21-year-old, soon-to-be junior was booked in the Washington County Jail at 6:11 p.m. and was released in the early morning hours Tuesday. Both charges are misdemeanors.

Fairchild is a punk, always has been always will be… I’m sure his anger was roid-rage inspired (have you seen pictures of him????). Plus, the guy is rock-dumb. As a Razorback fan, I effing hate that guy.

…he should have married her first; in Arkansas, it remains legal to beat your wife with a stick, provided the stick is no wider than your thumb.

Not 100% but I am pretty sure Ed Johnson of the Colts now was originally charged with false imprisonment in one of his multiple college incidents. The victim was a dude though……..

Not to be outdone, Mississippi State jumps on the board with a bullet (pun intented). Two starters, one a OL with NFL aspirations, get nabbed for felony possession of a firearm and aggravated assault.
Croom is definitely doing things the right way, as MSU puts Arkansas and the rest of the SEC West on notice. State is coming after the Fulmer cup, and they’re bringing hell with them.

Listen, boys…if I were still the coach at Arkansas, I’d have taken care of this for Freddie. Frank Broyles and I never let important starters get sidetracked by a few felonious actions against wimmens. I’d have texted all the right people and talked Freddie’s biotch out of filing charges. I have good experience with that.
