PMcP -
I have to agree - vegas is a draining experience, watching endless hordes of zombies push buttons on their card wielding adventure machines (MMMMMM BRAAAAiiiiinnn..... SSSSLLLLLLOOOOOTTTTSSS!) is exhausting even for someone who has lived here for 18 years. What's kept me sane while living here the abundance of great places to get away and feel alive. Red Rock Canyon, Mt Charleston, Brian Head, Lake Mead (great islands to camp on, even more so w/ the drought), Zion (hike The Narrows - you're in a canyon and you get to hike in a river at points), Bryce, Beaches of San Diego.... everything is all withing a half day's drive. Vegas is fun, but leaving it is more fun.

I was in Vegas in February for a few nights. Fremont street was....interesting....

Gambled at El Cortez for four hours playing $5 Blackjack. because the $3 table was full...

Ate at some diner that was actually cheap and awesome. Believe I suffered seizures walking through the covered neoned area.

Back to Bellagio, where they had the Chinese New Year thing going on in the garden area, with a giant effing rat staring at me.

First time in Vegas. Maybe the last. Drove to Zion National Park In UT for two nights, for a detox of the soul...highly recommended. Vegas, notsomuch.

The smell of certain beverages still makes me want to hurl to this day.

Icehouse is one ($4 pitchers at the Porpoise being the main culprit) and the good Captain Morgan with his wee beady eyes, his sweet rum, and even sweeter 'stache is the other.

I salute you sirs and madams.

How about a little Capt Morgan love on this fine Moustache Wednesday?

Man, O and Crew - had I been in town during your weekend, I'd have gladly met up with you and shown you around some of the shady places in vegas. You think Downtown is bad, you should try the "off-strip" tour. Vegas is a shit magnet for 'merikas finest and classiest. We have strip joints like "The Tender Trap" ( I shit you not - 'tis the name) and classy bars like "The Rum Runner" where Icehouse is most certainly on tap, and quite possibly warm. The Double Down is a good place to sober up with some bad wisky and the worst college punk evar! Next time your spending TSN's dime, head to those places to make your drank money last.

Viva, baby. Fuckin' Viva.

Kanu: That's basically what I was asking, except me no word good.

Holly: Paying in quarters seems almost too classy for House on tap.

I have no idea why that seemed such a good idea at the time. "ICEHOUSE ON TAP - OMG WE HAVE TO DO THAT!!" ... after the five of us order one each, it takes about 3 sips until we realize what a horrible mistake we had made. It took me about 15 minutes to finish mine, it was basically undrinkable.

Best part ... the bartender busting on us for drinking it ... WHILE HE'S TENDING BAR AT A PLACE WHERE VOLKOV VODKA IS TOP SHELF.

I paid in quarters because they're HEAVY, man. Also, the bartender made fun of us.

Him: "You guys gonna drink those?"
Me: "YOU. WORK. AT. MERMAIDS."
