Around SBN: The Gift Of The 2003 Tigers

HOW WAS YOUR WEEKEND?

Ours got off to a smashing start. Latest decorating trend in Atlanta: carpeted indoor waterfalls.

Check the rest of the reportage on The Sporting Blog. It was, in the Doomsday Machine sense, cool as hell.

Glad to see you made it out ok. CNN showed the streets around Phillips/CNN Center/Omni Hotel covered in debris. How was it leaving where you were parked?

Well at least you get to go back to the North Ave Trade School for the rest of the SEC basketball coverage

If you start Dark Side of the Moon at the opening tip of overtime, it syncs up perfectly. Freaky, man!

The GWCC looks like it’d be fun to go swimming in if that water weren’t, you know, probably nasty as shit.

Anyway, I’m glad to see that when the Georgia Dome got a hole punched in the roof, they moved the whole shebangabang to Alexander Memorial Coliseum, a place with . . . a hole in the roof. w00t GaTech faciliteez

Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton won’t be allowed to another SEC game.

That’s some good on the spot journamalism there, Orson.

Glad you’re OK.

The CNN Center owes me a five dollar Sweetwater. The one I was drinking is full of asbestos. Thank god I’m a cheap bastard and was waiting to buy tickets post tip off.

Scary, but kind of awesome.

EDSBS is the only site embracing the truthiness that once you realize you aren’t going to die and no one else did either, the aftermath of a minor tornado is pretty cool. Have fun at Tech.

I hope you’ve had your shots.

That coverage reminded me of a young Paul Ossmann.

It takes disaster type weather for anyone to pay attention to your basketball tournament.

I’m just glad Raycom/Lincoln/JP Sports were there live to cover the tornado with the Three Daves.

If I had $$$ to blow, I’d see your carpeted indoor waterfall and raise you a crushed velvet bidet. It would only be the greatest episode of Cribs ever!

As someone who had to sit in the middle of some very smug and obnoxious Kentucky fans in previous SEC tourneys in ATL, the fact that they couldn’t see their team play at all is somewhat amusing. Granted, the Kentucky fan they quoted in the AJC yesterday saying he was going to file a class action suit against the GA Dome on Monday for not allowing him to see the game at GA Tech is downright entertaining.

Did it! Georgia Bulldogs SEC CHAMPS! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DAWGS!!!

Holy shit! Georgia won the SEC B-ball Tourney? Oh, the taste of those bitter tears is so sweet.

[Someone please come up with a tourney/tornado joke, por favor.]

Daaawgs, We are in the final 64! Daaawgs! We are #1 next year! Daaawgs! Tennis….Golf……Gymnastics…..FOOTBALL!

To my EDSBS friends….Wow!….To Coop….pffffft!

So, no truth to the rumor that the hole in the Georgia Dome roof was just the result of an extra-zesty WOOOOO!!! from Ric Flair?

by CincySooner on Mar 17, 2008 8:43 AM EDT reply actions

ATL AU: Yeah, get a few of them together around tournament time and their collective self-importance skyrockets. And viewing that video, the only thing running through my head was “Play with us, Danny, forever…and ever..and ever…”

We tried to copy Atlanta in Charlotte, as our fearless leaders are always chanting “world class city, world class city” but all we got was a crappy little leak off the side of the court on Saturday during the Clempson/Dook game.

BTW, Sat. ACC tix were being scalped at $250, Sunday at $500. Actual price is $70/session.
