Coop,

I agree that it was aggressive step that needed to be taken in order to bring the rivalry to another level. Suprisingly, I think a Gamecock shot a Tiger for not paying a $20 bet in 2006. I'm fairly sure the Tiger was so shocked by Clemson's loss that he refused to believe it happened.

@ 33 - It also listed one of the traditions as, "losing to Clemson." We are a creative, albeit effective, bunch, aren't we?

@31 - I was so proud to hear that somebody finally shot someone over the Clemson/South Carolina game. Auburn/Alabama, we are coming for you!

However, I hope that we never get to the point of OU/Texas. It is one thing to kill a man, it is a different matter, altogether, to rip open another man's ball sack.

Loved this entry under "traditions" . . .

Fans joining in on many cheers and chants, including the popular "GAME" (shouted by the west side of the stadium) and then "COCKS" (shouted by the east side).

Wow! Fans joining in on cheers and chants? What an awesome tradition! I bet South Carolina fans feel real special that they're the only ones who do that.

For competitve games againts the dawgs in '02 was vs. USC. Clemsux may have lost by 3 fewer points but we fumbled TWICE inside our their 5 and David Pollock had some insanely ridiculous play in the EZ where strip/intercepted the ball of our soon to be Saftey quaterback. Rained like crazy in that game too. The only section in the stadium that was still full was the student section b/c we were un-willing to loose our seats.

Coop, winning and losing doesn't a rivalry make. It would obviously be a better, more nationally recognized rivalry if it was not so one-sided. However, you are a liar if you would say that game isn't the biggest rivalry game on Clemson's schedule every year. People get shot over that game for God's sake.

Outstanding FC entry.
Speaking of Louisville in a kind of round about sort of way, things have been extremely quiet in Patrinoville. Has he quit and taken another job already?

FULMER CUPDATE

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3256175

Louisville wants to play.

Among the interesting points:
-Armed Robbery is the charge
-He robbed a gas station (people still do that?)
-$50,000 bond
-Likely would have started at corner next year.

They forgot to mention the true star of The Program, the curmudgeon at large Robert D. Raiford as ESU's El Presidente.

Didn't they also film that horrible Adam Sandler football movie there?

@ Coop:

After 30-0 in your own place, you can't say shit. Justin Miller still can't cover Fred Gibson, and somewhere Charlie Whitehurst is throwing another teammate under the bus.

See you in 2013.

@ 16

I am guessing that 6 of the last 11, maybe more, Clemson/Georgia games were played when Hatfield, West, or Tommy was coaching Clemson.

Tommy gets a pass because he ran roughshod into Georgia's best two year stretch since whomever bought Herschel that Corvette or Trans Am he was driving around Athens.

Clemson played Georgia more competitively than anybody in 2002, I know b/c I was there, other than Florida and Auburn, and that is completely relevant because college football games are decided just like horseshoes.

Anyway, yes, you probably had Ray Goof in several of those games, but Goof was nothing more than Tommy West with more talent.

Anybody who can pluck a S out of the defensive backfield in August and have him run for something like 500 yards in the first 2.5 games he played at RB prior to breaking his foot, obviously has too much talent.

I also curse the name, "Torin Kirtsey," who is probably in prison right now because you had to do something really bad to get kicked off of the Georgia squad back then.
