JOE KINES RETURNS. YAW YAW.
The inside trout returns! Get yur yaw yaw on!
Texas A&M becomes massively awesomer than they were five seconds ago with the hiring of former Alabama defensive coordinator Joe Kines. For those not familiar with Kines, he rules in many ways:
1. Designs simple but effective defenses for the college game.
2. Implements them well.
3. Has been coaching since the Nixon administration.
4. Swallowed a bullhorn in a barfight in 1979, and can only speak in two ways: at high volume, or in the siren noise that is the other option on most bullhorns.
He is one of the loudest coaches ever, and he's perfect for the Big 12, where he will face the inside trout yearly when A&M plays Oklahoma State.

Joe Kines is what all college coordinators should aim to be. FUCKING AWESOME.
a&m made the best DC hire in texas this off-season, without question in terms of enjoyment, and potentially in terms of ability

True fact: Kines was born in a rail car.
Guess that’s why he has always been a “ramblin’ man.”
Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State and now A&M.

Aggies are a bit mixed on this one. I think they’re just still perturbed at Herring jumping ship. but hey Kines, held Texas Tech to 10 pts in the cotton bowl a few years ago. Upon hearing that they collectively peed their pants.

I got to talk to him twice. Hell of a guy. I also think Torbush doing so poorly at A&M was a function of Fran more than Torbush. He had awesome defenses at North Carolina. At North Carolina for Pete’s sake. My totally ignorant opinion was that his heart wasn’t in it after he got to College Station. I always heard he didn’t approve of the way Fran left T-town and he didn’t really want to follow him there but ultimately had no option. His defense at Alabama in ’02 was sick (other than the first quarter of the Auburn game that year – fucking Tre Smith).

@ 4 – upon further review you were probably speaking of Fran but I was thinking more of DCs going from Alabama to Texas A&M. I hope it goes better for both Kines and A&M.

Is it sad that I was secretly internally rooting for Bob Davie to get this get so he could say blanketed, bold faced lies like “This game against Army is more important right now to me than the 2000 Fiesta Bowl against Oregon State was”?

That picture of Joe from the link says it all.
Keep your virgins and red meat away from College Station, cause Joe Kines is coming to town!

Wait, we get Will Muschamp and Joe Kines in the same state? Again? “Boom Motherfucker” vs. The Great Yaw Yaw?
There is a God.

That ranks up there with the one he did at the halftime of the Sugar Bowl against UPig (Looooouuuu!). Something was said about the OL taking over late in the first quarter, to which Bear replied, “They’re supposed to. They’re all seniors.”
Bear was the King of No BS.

I would love to get a fundraising call from Joe Kines. I would piss my pants…and immediately pledge my life savings.

This is the best hire I have seen in years. He is a classy good ’ol boy who will represent your University well. Got a chance to meet him about a year ago, great guy. Expect the defense to improve day1. I wish we never lost him.
