DOOLEY STATUE ISSUE BENDS OUR MIND
Host: Peace in the Middle East. Cold Fusion. Agreeing with Terrence Moore on anything.
Us, hitting buzzer: Um, what are things that won't ever happen?

Unless you're talking about this column, where we...um...agree with him? Oh God...we've lived too long...

O, would you please speculate on whether Moore would have written that if Dooley did not handpick and groom Damon Evans to be his successor?

Moore turns most things into racial issues, whether they are or not.
Also, why do sportswriters insist on writing shit like, “You can’t honor Dooley enough…this is enough?”

Slightly off topic… Orson, I was expecting at least a mention of the idiocy (yet again!) of Georgia legislators and the whole UF license plate deal. I picked up my UF plate Monday! Suck on that, Georgia! Pthbbbbt!

Probably because we think it’s not even worth mentioning.

Out of all the things I might truly honor about UGA…Dooley is not one of them. From a Florida standpoint the man is evil incarnate, having caused the destruction of some exceptional Gator memories.
I guess there really is no way to provide proper monumentation to the UGA institutional opportunity to overuse your courting tackle. But I digress…

UGA should wait until Dooley is dead to place the statue outside the stadium…you know, like FSU did with Bobby Bowden…

a sabanite insulting FSU.
how refreshing, ahem*21-14*ahem….
+1 for TMoore, that racist piece of black trash.
Hell must’ve frozen over for him to be making sense.
and +1 to Orson for not commenting on the license plate issue.
again, our GA legislature has done more than enough.

From the anti-hyphen dept. (yeah, I know I used a hyphen)
At what point will it end? I mean, in a hundred years will you have Bryant-Denny-Saben-Patrino stadium?
Another thing that bothers me.
If Joe Smith-Jones marries Sue Williams-Black, what is their progeny named? Shaverdrick Smith-Jones-Williams-Black?
Ridiculous.

Does Ray Goof get a statue too? Oops, my bad. It belongs outside of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

It doesn’t make a lot of difference to me where they put the statue, but I do like the proposed location on Lumpkin at Pinecrest. Plus, he was a pretty good coach (rendered great to the extent that he may be considered to have been great by the gentleman from Wrightsville). But he was a much better AD. The NCAA championships started falling like rain in Athens during his tenure (yes, I know, women’s swimming and diving, gymnastics, tennis — and one baseball!, etc.).
What excites me most about this news is that it may cut short the rumblings out there for Sanford-Dooley or Dooley-Sanford Stadium. It’s Sanford Stadium, dammit. None of this hyphenated crap.
Granted, I may change my mind when I get my invitation in 2046 to the Sanford-Richt renaming reception. Of course, by that time, CMR’s levitation powers will have matured. The stadium’s capacity will have expanded by another 20,000 or so, as Richt will be able to coach the game while simultaneously maintaining enough concentration to keep the additional spectators hovering over the field.

The real news, by the way, is elsewhere in the AJC. Rule change fun for everyone!

Kick-off out of bounds and the ball is placed on the 40? Whoa-nelly!

I like the idea of carving Dooley’s likeness alongside that of UGA VI on Stone Mountain. Just sayin …

So in 1 year, people who are paid by tax dollars approved the sales of a UGA themed casket and a Vince Dooley Statue to be placed near the Vince Dooley Athletics Bldg.
It’s not THEIR money. Let’s keep going
The Larry Munson Media Booth
The Erk Russell Dome (if FSU does it, can UGA be far behind?"
The Coach Wally Butts restroom facilities and washroom
way too many UGA grads under that gold dome !!!
