the reality is that there is a success bias against black coaches. not to say that black coaches are unsuccessful, but in the SEC (in particular) there is a bias against coaches that haven’t won the mythical ring.
forced (or even encouraged) interviewing will not increase black coach hires, but instead deter them.
without wielding the “big stick” i spoke of earlier, the “encouraged” interviews will result in a disgruntled process for all.
anyone that thinks RichRod, CUM, Ol’ Nutt, RickNeu, OBC, CharlieWeiss, or BPelini had to “pass” an interview is deluding themselves. AD’s know who they want long before the interview occurs.
-the color of that recherché coach’s skin (if not a factor before) certainly will be now.
if anyone thinks Houston Nutt was interviewed to determine his fitness for the Ole Miss job, or Petrino was interviewed to determine his allegiance to the organization sigining his checks, they are delusional.

Black coaches have plenty of opportunity for head coaching jobs. -Delaware St., Tuskegee, Southern, Norfolk St., Grambling, Alabama A&M, South Carolina St., Alabama St., Clark-Atlanta, Florida A&M, Alcorn St., etc. etc. etc.
these schools foster and encourage a segregationist ideal.
that said, there should be more head coaches that are black. but trying to make it mandatory is just stupid.

(my grandfather was a high school football coach in Upstate SC during the 60s, he lived “Remember the Titans”, I’m well aware of race issues in sports.)
