IN THE MEANTIME: JUST LIKE THAT
We’re finishing up a column on why people hate Duke basketball. In the meantime, please accept the fond wishes of Ric Flair, who has been set to music by Atlanta’s own local genius, Poodleface.
Just like that, you’re not doing work. Those women in the video are truly the finest women in the world: the high cinched belts, the crimped hair, the pounds of makeup.

Just a shot in the dark, but perhaps the reason people hate Duke basketball has something to do with a certain disingenuous smarmy douchebag who isn’t a coach, but rather a leader who happens to coach basketball.

Ric Flair is still my man, although Dusty Rhodes is pretty cool too. These guys should definitely be involved with SEC football in some way.

WWF in the 80’s = SEC since 2004
The onus is now on somebody (Orson) to do a write-up comparing and contrasting SEC coaches with 80’s WWF figureheads.
Also, “just like that” should be a tag from now on.

What is disingenuous or smarmy about Coach K? People have been trying to perform character assassination on him since the early 90s and all they can come up with is that he cusses a lot and does a lot of commercials. I think Huckleberry Hound over at UNC-CH deserves more derision than K on any given day.

The WWF was a bunch of cartoon characters when I was growing up.
Matter of fact, I think they had a cartoon with Hogan and Piper.

Ric Flair is not worthy to wear Sgt. Slaughter’s or Ivan Koloff’s shoes, but a cage match between Ric and The Orgeron would be a ratings bonanza.

#13 My brother and I watched tooonnnsss of NWA when we were little. Like 7 or 8 years old little. Our favorite was Magnum TA and the best tag team duo was the Rock n Roll Express. Good times.
Then again, there wasn’t much else on TBS back then but NWA, reruns of the Carol Burnett Show (genius), Braves baseball, and commercials for Lee Press on Nails, Survivor knives, the pocket fisherman, and Freedom Rock LPs.
Christ, I feel old

I remember a brief period when TBS tried to create its own programming. The two shows I remember from that failed experiment were Rocky Road and Down to Earth (whose theme song I inexplicably remember).

When I was a kid, TBS was WTCG and it was about the only channel I ever watched. Ted Turner is the person who introduced me to Gordon Soley, The Little Rascals, The Space Giants and Jethro Bodine. Ah, the Glory Days. Wrestling when it mattered, when it meant something, when the finest athletes in the world were 40, with big ass beer guts and bionic elbows, pummeling the same sorry ass jobbers every week. Saturday nights with the NWA, right there in the studio, where the Little League bleachers held 50 people. Tomorrow night at the War Memorial!… Tonight, at the Omni in Atlanta! Get your tickets at local Select-a-Seat outlets!
Those were the days. Fuck WWE.
